FWIW, when I renewed with BT last year, I only got a decent offer from them after I'd instigated a switch to another provider.

Thanks all, I've renewed now on that deal as looked to be best i'd get without hassle of switching etc.  The CPI increase I believe was 1.8% this year? based on that @ £23.99 a month, i'd pay less than 50p extra and that's assuming I pay it on the line rental also as i pay that yearly so i'd get 2 months before needing to pay it as I've already paid a year up front.  If they talking about negative interest rates etc maybe CPI will come down next year?

Mine is not due for renewal until next May . Received a letter telling me if I recontract before October will pay same price £22+ with free bt sports. Tempted but need to find out whether the new contract will include free bt sports.

Not bad at all if it does :)

They tried to tempt me with TV etc but don't have a need for it, only had it when BT sport as free but then they wanted to charge me £5 a month and I wasn't going to pay that for it.  They tried to convince me it was free at one point until I pointed out the difference in price was £5 so was the same as me paying for BT sport, they then agreed and proceeded to remove the TV package and I sent the you view box back.  They tried to re-sign me up again but I still wasn't paying extra for it so they didn't succeed.  Most of the stuff i'd rarely watch, would only be the odd thing now and again so can't justify it.  Even with BT Sport, it was only certain matches i'd watch as i'm not a huge football fan but like to occasionally watch a match.

My 18 month contract up 24th July, just come off the phone, initially told best they could do was £25.99 for same speed as I am currently on up to 50mb, I said I would be happy with Fibre Essentials speed  36Mb, answer was that comes up £1 more, I said will leave it then inclined to go with Shell, she said is that the petrol station one :D said would speak to manager came back offered £23.99 same speed as I am on now, in view of above unlikely to get a better price from BT, will pre-pay 12 months line rental, saving £6 on what I due to pay for next month and BT Wifi is very useful to me . :)

Thanks for sharing information - my last contract was £54 pcm for Fibre 2 and line rental (i'm sure it was competitive 2 years ago though i have doubts now).  Mobile £16 for 25G , Mobile 2 £12 for 6G....Contract just finished and i benchmarks to Virgin 108M £20pcm approx (baking in £75 cashback) and £10 30G smarty....i called Value team , a few mins later was connected.  Spent 30mins talking about BB and 2 mobiles....£25 all in for Fibre 2 , £16 for 30G and £8 for 6G...i stayed with Broadband as couldnt face waiting 30 days , have an engineer in and for a chance for it to muck up and BT mobiles purely because the £16 (somehow they knocked another quid off a few days later when i called back) contract had BT sports.  Data was fine as we never breach 25 and 6 anyway....happy negotiating and please post the results!!!

Well £54 for Fibre 2 and line rental is certainly not competitive even 2 years ago because i was on a much cheaper deal less than half that price then.
I'm paying £23.51 for that now after the recent price rise so £25 isn't bad at all and much better than £54!
