TUI Promise Update 21/05 @12pm

Just to update you all, Ive finally got through to TUI. While I was on the phone the agent got an email ( he did say they was expecting an update earlier in the call.) he said ALL Bookings up to 31st August 2020 can now be amended for Free. He also had a conf call booked after lunch, which would be briefing this out to them before it went live on the Tui Web page.
Hope that helps a few of you out.

Is this just relevant to holidays or does it include flight only bookings ?

I was under the impression that TUI's policy throughout this mess was to allow free amendments to existing bookings - within the appropriate timeframe ?
The mega problematic drama of actually speaking to somebody at TUI is still the key issue.
Have they reduced their telephone contact times ? I thought it was until 7pm - now appears to be 5:30pm ?

    Just had to following email.

"As we continue to navigate this period of ongoing uncertainty and start to think about how we can prepare for the future, I’d like to send my thoughts and well wishes to you and your loved ones and hope that everyone is keeping well.
It’s hard to believe that in a matter of just months, we've gone from taking our customers on holiday all around the world, to being forced to cancel holidays for nearly a million customers.
It’s certainly been a learning curve for us, and I’ll be the first to admit we didn’t always get it right. If you were caught up in this, I’d like to apologise for the frustration you may have felt trying to manage your holiday. I’d like to assure you that we’re dedicated to doing everything we can to make things better.
We recognise that the situation remains unclear, there’s still a lot of uncertainty around when we will all be able to travel again, and some customers may not wish to pay a final balance with so many unknowns. We’re therefore offering customers with holidays before the end of August the opportunity to amend their holiday for free, so you don’t have to pay until closer to a new departure date.
We also know that many of you like to go into our TUI Stores where our advisors can support with every element of your booking, or simply answer your questions. We’re therefore constantly adding Travel Advisors to our home working team whilst our stores remain closed. Rest assured, these team members are doing everything they can to help you as quickly as possible - so please bear with them.
We hope these changes reduce the need for customers to call our busy phone lines and offer greater flexibility. You’ll now be able to amend your holiday to a future date for free, and should your holiday be cancelled you’ll be able to change your holiday to another time, or request a cash refund via an online form, removing the need to call us to do this.
I’m confident that all of these improvements we’ve made will save you time and provide you with the reassurance you need to start looking forward to travelling again. We’re certainly excited and ready to take you on holiday as soon as we’re able to do so.

Thank you for your patience and understanding."

That contains nearly as much waffling as a Matt Hancock reply to a question at the daily Government briefing.

If only they were "ready" to give refunds as quickly as they take our money.
    That would be "exciting" methinks.

I've just opened an email from Andrew Flintham - there is now a direct online facility to claim a refund based on your booking number.
Just one little hurdle to overcome - you need the refund credit reference number from TUI.
Guess what didn't accompany the email !!!
Happy to flag up the text if anybody is so inclined.
