Well 4.5 months after the initial claim and 2 months since they outlined my options I have a full cash refund from lastminute, with no admin fees or deductions.
Well a result - sort of ? At least they didn't impose any bogus fees.
Why didn't you go straight in with a chargeback ?
Looking back on this thread whatever happened to Life Goes On ? - he was a great contributor in the early days but seems to have disappeared !!
  • Hello, can I ask did you have to fight for this? I have been arguing with them for the last 4 months with no joy. They are insisting I selected a voucher refund when I didn't and they won't change it.

Glad to hear someone has had success though!

No I didn't really have a fight, I requested the cancellation at the time the foreign office said not to make any unnecessary travel, which was a week or so before we were due to travel. I kept hoping we'd make the trip but sadly that became impossible. Once I made the claim I heard nothing for a couple of months and then had the offers at the top of this post. Didn't really want to risk vouchers or credit notes so asked the for cash. Then nothing for another couple of months and finally got the refund at the end of July.
When you made your choice of what refund you wanted, you should have had a confirmation email like mine below detailing what option you had selected:

You've selected a £xxxx.xx Cash refund. In the current unprecedented circumstances we are sorry to advise you that we're not able to refund you before the providers have released the funds for your booking.

Which email address did you use? As I've got a hotel booking in September that I cannot cancel as the booking has disappeared from my account :(
