  • I was getting cross as I couldn't update..... then realised I wasnt signed in!!!
Went over budget this month by about £60  that was because we ran out of a few things that we did need, plus food for a picnic yesterday as we took our 2 people to Longleat Safari, they love it there. Plus with them home as day centres are not open yet they are eating more at home... My june finishes on June 29th as we get paid on 30th. Will do meal plans, cupboard and freezer checks over the next few days.

Hi all, just done a quick calculation and we are going to be over budget again this month, Really need to concentrate on trying to get the cost down especially now we only have to make lunches for 2 of us 5 days a week and for 5 the other 2 days. I've also got a freezer draw full of bread and half a drawer of sandwich fillings, so no real need to buy bread, meat etc.

Pay day tomorrow so I am declaring an overspend but a massive £180 less than last month! :)  I am happy with what we have achieved although I do think we could easily cut down more.  Next month I am challenging myself to downshift and will be mainly be using Lidl/Aldi.  I have shopped here the last week and the difference in the bill was quite significant.

    Bulk buys £47/£40
    Groceries £392.03/£360

Oh and I did not get made redundant after all, phew 😅

Our bubble person is coming until Monday - we were not going to shop until then but DH has gone today, so we will be over this month. The joys of an annual budget means this is a temporary shift from July into June but I suspect more treats might be in there. Oh well.

Have spent £16 of next month's bulk fund but I'm OK with that as I've put £100 in the pot for next month but not expecting to spend that amount as we're away for a week at the beginning of the month in our caravan and will be taking as much food as possible with us so that we'll only have to do a small shop probably half way through the week.

Will post on the July thread with what's left!

That's good news, XSpender!  I am pleased for you.  I hope you take it as a warning, however, to get your finances and budget in order.  A lot of jobs are precarious at the moment.   Use this time to do a bit of housekeeping, too.  If there are certificates or manuals or spreadsheet models saved which you think might be useful to yourself going forward, email them to yourself now or save them to a data stick.  (Delete the work sensitive data first from the copy you send yourself.)

    - Pip (My own contract runs out on 31st July and I've been told it will not be renewed.  I'm currently staring at my CV wondering what on earth I've been doing in the last two years...)

    £6.39 spent today.

    OHs dinner - okonomiyaki.
My dinner - vegan hash again.

    £298.98/£300.
    £1.02 left.

Not having an A&C delivery on Monday as we still have loads in and we can make do until the 30th. The only thing is OH will need to buy milk most likely before our month ends which will have us slightly over our budget. We will see.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

Haven’t spent anything else yet except DH bought a little bit of junk (pot noodles etc) the other day but he bought it from his own spending hasn’t asked for it back and so I’m not adding it to my total.

    Mealplan today:

B - strawberry, peanut butter and kale milkshakes plus toast
L - ham pasta salad with fruit/salad veg bowls
S - probably home baking & fruit (and maybe yoghurt) for the snacks today as I have a lot of muffins and cakes frozen
D - veggie curry with rice, HM wraps etc. Think I will make a peach and nectarine crumble for either tonight or tomorrow too.

We are at the half year point so a little update on my annual budget. Year to date is £3.33 inside 50% or 48.22% at £1446.67. This is actually an overspend because I like to have an extra £200 for December out of my annual budget of £3000. I have been topping up DS (crumbs from the table income on a flexible hours contract in a key worker role) and have also now got cat litter and cat food in this budget where it never used to be. Also flour - I have a second 25kilo sack that I have included but I think I forget to add back in when my baking group buy some from me

DH shopped four days early yesterday because our bubble person is coming for the weekend. Unfortunately DH has had to go again this morning as he forgot cucumber and the bag of carrots were manky, not wonky, and I need them this weekend. I am £4.78 inside my average monthly spend but well over 50% on my annual stores spend. It's a good job the garden starts to provide us with most of our fruit and veg now for the next two months.

Edit to add another £3.70 from that top up (milk, carrots and cucumber)
