    It's very rainy here today, can't remember if I've mentioned it but I have carpal tunnel in both my wrists- I'm waiting on an NHS referral for nerve conductivity testing to see whether I need surgery or the injections as it's pretty bad (It's from damage done by one specific student in the awful school I used to work in- constantly twisting my wrists and fingers and bending them backwards 5 days a week for 18 months)

    The pain tends to get worse in the rain and cold so they're aching something fierce today.

    Bottom line;
    £49k paid off
    Car HP paid off
    Debt Free!
    Saved Escape fund and moved out.

    Current focus; saving Emergency fund

    Kakiste that sounds horrific!  Can you claim damages or something?  XX

  • Wow that sounds dreadful can you make a claim ? No one should have to put up with that treatment xx

    Honestly- that is nowhere near the worst thing that happened to me in that school. It wouldn't make top 20.

    I could do; but they have form for being incredibly vindictive (they've gone after people's QTS in the past; when ex-staff have taken them to court for injuries sustained at work they've 'suddenly' had students (ones who have moderate learning difficulties and either could be easily convinced or wouldn't be able to remember saying it/not saying it) make allegations against that staff and then reported it to the police and to DBS. It happened to a friend of mine and she was suspended from her new teaching job for nearly 10 months whilst they investigated the allegation- she had to wait nearly 2 years to find out whether the DBS board were going to uphold the complaint and remove her right to teach in the UK. So as much as they cut and dry are a terrible awful management, I don't want to rock the boat and risk my career now I've got a wonderful school with great management that I love working in.

    Tbh- I'm just pleased it's something that the NHS can fix- when I initially went to the doctors about it, they told me it was cartilage damage and nothing could be done.

    Don't forget to reclaim any tax they've taken on the interest - there should be a breakdown in the letter they send you.  I just filled the form in on the HMRC site for DH's interest back - you need gross and net figures but its all itemised in the letter so easy to do and takes a few minutes.  Its only just over £80, but its a cherry on top :smile:

  • I’m a long time reader of your diary and occasionally post but I had to de-lurk to say I am so pleased about the payment you’ve received. That is amazing news and takes you so close to being debt free. You’ve worked so hard to get to where you are you really do deserve so good news xx
