Congrats on your good news! You're really on the home strait now. It'll make a huge dent in your remaining figure, single digit K's will fly by! Do you know what your DFD will be now with your £2k at least?

Not absolutely sure but it should at least knock a quarter of the remaining time off.

I've also signed up to mark for the summer exams- the contact I've signed is for £1500 which will be additionally helpful. Also my colleague has approached me today about tutoring his son for GCSE history so potential weekly earner there as well.

Also- very proud of myself- we've redecorated my daughter's bedroom this weekend just gone. Daughter wanted a 'princess bedroom' (as they all do ) when she was 4 and we did it really nicely then. Three and a half yeas later it was looking a bit random (with all the new interests thrown in) so we've spent this weekend completely redoing her room as a Pokemon bedroom (her big love- it also has been since she was 5 so there's no chance it's suddenly going away)

I've painted her room across the weekend but she wanted a 'pokemon bed' (which basically don't exist) so given that husband is actually very skilful as a joiner - we've made her one from scratch, he did the woodwork and I painted. She is absolutely delighted with it (and it's a cracking job as well) Everyone who I've shown photos of it has asked where I bought it from so that's made me feel quite smug. So she's had a new bed, new paint on walls, new rug, new beanbag, new duvet cover and her new curtains and lampshade are arriving today. All in has cost £230. (inc paint and rollers) It was husband's idea to do it now (original idea was February half term) so I told him that I'd pay half but he'd have to wait until payday to get it- which he accepted.

Daughter loves it and everything fits in much better now (smaller bed as last time we repurposed a single one as we had a spare mattress which was far too big for her) so she has miles more room to sit and play on her floor now. The massive doll house she got for her birthday has fitted into a more sensible place (the length of room where the old bed used to be) and has become 'the Eevee (a pokemon type) playhouse for the moment. Very cute.

It's a 'junior mattress' (I think it's the same measurements as the biggest cot beds- but she's got at least a foot of growing room and can stretch out in it.

  • HI Katiste,

Just catching up and what a fantastic update, firstly on the refund and getting well under the £10k.  Your daughters room sounds amazing, we have just had a re-jig in our boys and even making better use of the space can have such a positive impact! Bed sounds great, you should think about doing some more and getting them sold lol ;) I am sure not everyone will be as skilled as you and OH!

Lurking away cheering you on! You will be DF in no-time!!
    Pennies starts again...........2022 - £13,579.22

  • Have just read through your diary over the last few days, you have done amazingly with paying off debt and I love the way you find gifts! I shall be copying this year! You also have the patience of a saint, the way you manage your hubby amazes me, I would not have been able to cope at all and I am rooting for you to find a beautiful place for you and your daughter! :)
