So got my car insurance renewal through; a full year of no claims and my policy would...... increase by £56! Ha. So I'll be shopping around for the renewal, using Quidco now that I've discovered them. I'm setting myself a target that this year will be the last year I pay in monthly instalments- I'm going to start a new monthly savings pot for car insurance and next August will hope to pay the year outright.

Camping with our friends next weekend locally - have some spending money put aside as there is a bar on site  I paid the pitch fee (£50 for 2 nights) so husband will be covering the food costs for the weekend. I'm really looking forward to it.

Just checked on comparison sites and I've got a bunch of car insurance quotes for £413-£420 odd for the year.

Given that my current insurer were asking for £660 for this year's renewal - it's a significant drop-down and should take my monthly DD down from £52 to £35.

That's a good drop from your current insurer!
Do you pay annually or monthly? I've always paid monthly as it's what we've been able to afford but just recently have started saving per month for our renewal whilst also paying our standard monthly, with the aim to be able to pay annually next year (and hopefully have a better pick too!)

This year I'm still going to have to pay in instalments but I'm going to create an extra savings pot and save £30 a month from October so that next year I can pay for the year outright.

Nice one! I'm excited about getting rid of yet another monthly payment (though of course you have to save for it in perpetuity) but there is a little saving to be had paying annually.
