The idea that governments can't get muh Bitcoin is one of the sillier myths.

During the last Bitcoin boom, transactions in Bitcoin took days (unless you paid a massive premium) even though it was still only being traded between a small minority of get-rich-quick speculators, in contrast to the mainstream payment networks which process billions of transactions near-instantly. If you are having problems with your bank then adding non-GDPR-compliant cruft to all your transactions is not a solution.

I know they say that revenge is a dish best served cold, but waiting over four years for that seems pretty extreme, especially when the original post wasn't even about the price!

You've missed the banter in the other Bitcoin thread. It adds context and is really where most of our to-and-fro occurred. This was just in reply to him calling me a bagholder after my first post on the forum back when it was $8k in 2020. The thread was dead so I should probably have let it lie. My bad.

Funny this thread came back up today as I withdrew some from Coinbase that I invested five years ago. My original investment (three figures) is now 10x so took half out and left the rest to see what happened. 

I am far from an expert and well aware it could still keep rising but wanted to take some profit out to help with Christmas (unemployed at moment) so thought it was a good idea. It's risen a lot since Trump's victory but at some point I assume that will stop and it'll calm down!
