Two current account with same bank?

I'm with Nationwide and have the Flex-Plus account. If I were to open another account (flex-account) for my bills going out would both accounts be in my online banking app or would they be separate apps to access accounts?

  • No, they would both appear in your online/mobile banking. I had a FlexPlus and a FlexStudent at the same time so I know.

There's a short video on app banking on the Nationwide website. It very clearly shows 4 current accounts (and a few other products) on the one app. Maybe watch it and see what else you can do?

Nationwide have always allowed up to 4 current accounts, for as long as I can think back (and I can think back many decades now).

Having all your accounts in the same place might not be the smartest thing to do, though. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6137535/how-many-current-accounts-do-you-have

I would echo what colesen says and suggest you take his advice

I would have one bank for your standing orders, dd, bills for example council tax etc and pretty much nothing else goes through there. That way there can never be any problem with it being closed down or anything like that

I would then have a second, third or even fourth account at different banks for what I would call 'other spending'

If you opened a Flex Direct account rather than simply Flex, you could earn a little interest too.  That assumes you would be putting £1.5K through the account in a month (from external source).  I expect you have thought of that.
Having both accounts with the same organisation keeps things simple.
However the idea of a back-up current account elsewhere has its uses and has become more common.

I echo what others have said about the wisdom of having current accounts with different banks.

OP has specific requirements from those accounts which have been explained in previous threads.
