If you have more than one then please explain why.  As it may help others.

Edit:  I have about 8-9.  Mostly because more than one account keeps you safe from IT meltdowns.  I also have some of the current accounts as they have a linked savings product which pays a (relatively) higher rate of interest.

I have 2 personal current accounts as i find it helps with budgeting - I get paid into an HSBC account, which all the DD and other payments come out. I pay a weekly standing order into my Barclays account which I use for day to day spending. I earn enough now that budgeting is less of an issue, but I've found this method works best for me.

Previously when we rented (and I earned much less than I do now), our rent was due on the 23rd of the month and so I transferred the rent money to the Barclays account at the start of the month - this ensured the rent got paid!

I've previously also had accounts with Natwest (student), a second Barclays account, and Monzo, but have closed them all down.

I also agree that having accounts with multiple banks can help with IT glitches!

My third account is my joint account which we use mainly for groceries and house bits.

I get paid into an HSBC to use the regular saver. I keep my salary in Marcus easy access and transfer to my Starling account bi-weekly. Opened up a NatWest for the switch bonus, but recently applied for a Reward account (yet to see if im successful).

I knew about the other poll.  But the wording for their poll was very por.  That caused confusion and inconsistencies with responses.  My poll is far better, clearer and concise.  ;)

I have also encouraged people to state their reasons, so that any newbies reading this can learn from the poll

5 - mostly for budgeting purposes.

Barclays where both salaries get paid and most bills go out.

Starling 1 for joint / family spending (groceries, petrol etc).

Starling 2 for personal spending money

HSBC for school fees / kid expenses / school trips, clubs, music lessons, uniforms etc. And to access regular saver.

Santander 123 for bills qualifying for cashback.

3 now, used to have 5. Two Tesco and one Barclays. I joined in the fun when it was worthwhile financially, but the effort became too much for the rewards. Think I'm still getting 1% up to £3000 on the Tesco ones, but gave up checking after it dropped from 3%.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.
