ive had new windows and doors fitted now for 3 years. I’ve had lots of issues with the installation, and complained over 20 times, every time they come out they never do a proper inspection and try to do as little as possible. Some of the photos do look dire, but they were installed three years ago. You mention the tendering process, is this social housing and the work was carried out by their contractor?Would it be better to complain to the council, their energy efficiency department or maybe the CEO?0 -
Hi elephant boy
i am paying £200 per month over 5 years for this, the house is mine not council property.0 -
Did you mean "rendering" rather than "tendering"?0

I believe you've already tried 1, 2 & 3.4. Get a third-party involved There are a number of organisations that run Competent Persons Schemes, such as BM Trada, BSI, Fensa and Napit. Many of these run their own Alternate Dispute Resolution schemes, so can step in to help get things resolved. The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) offers a free conciliation service if you're using one of its members. Fensa has a complaints process if you're unable to resolve issues directly with one of its members. There is also the Double Glazing and Conservatory Quality Assurance Ombudsman Scheme (DGCOS), which has a free consumer advice line and free access to the Ombudsman.

This is truly shocking. I wouldn't let these cowboys back into my home even if they offer to do remedial work - the whole lot needs ripping out out re-doing properly with all new doors and windows.Have you spoken with Trading Standards or taken legal advice?ADD: We had all new doors and windows fitted 12 years ago. We didn't need to re-decorate, let alone re-plaster or re-render, and the windows and doors are all still pristine. OK, the outer layer of the front door started to peel 9 years 10 months into the 10 year guarantee - but they supplied and fitted a new panel without a quibble. Then when we had engineered oak fitted in the hallway, the front door wouldn't fit over the higher floor level so Mr S rang them for help. An engineer popped round an hour later and adjusted the door. No charge, all part of the after sales service. Not all of these companies are like yours, so don't let them kid you into believing that this level of workmanship is the industry norm.1

All I can offer is my sympathy, I'm afraid. I do hope you find a way out of this.0 -
