How does that work with fttp broadband and phone line. BT are realistically my only option (yes there are other providers but for the speed I require they are far more expensive).
Presumably BT will have access to the fact they have me by the short and curllies and be less likely to negotiate?0 -
In a similar position to poster,my current deal is due to end in few days time and best they can offer is super fast fibre at £27.99 a month, whereas looking online i see plusnet, nowtv, vodafone, sse are cheaper at approx £22 - £25, so just not seeing the value in me paying an extra approx £3-£5 extra a month. Upon calling and advising this they didn't seem keen to go lower than the £27.99. I simply have broadband and phone, with no call packages etc. Used to pay line rental up front but stopped as am considering switching elsewhere, just wondering if any tips to get BT to match the cheaper prices available elsewhere? 36mb is suitable for me as I have never seen more than 33/34 from my connection and can't get UHD TV due to not meeting min requirements so don't have TV package etc.
Might try phoning and choosing the option thinking of leaving BT and see if they suddenly come up with a better deal as i'd sooner stay as less hassle as BT been fine connection wise and don't want to end up on a poor/unstable connection that drops frequently or speeds be slower etc.
Thanks

So it turns outs you have to take at least the Classic TV for base price of £7 a month (before any negotiations) if you wish to keep your recordable TV box, otherwise they say you must send your current box back.0

Hello! I've got a fairly basic landline, broadband and TV package for £39 pcm. I want to be able to pause, fast forward and record and the BT package I have is ideal for me. I get 500 free minutes per month on the phone which can be used at any time. And when I signed up for this particular deal, I was given six free months of amazon video prime. I usually phone up before my contract ends to negotiate a new package. Sometimes I've phoned up after a contract has expired and done a renegotiation and have been given a refund and a revised contract. You won't lose out if you miss any deadline for renewal with BT. I've always been really happy with the service and package I've had. BT broadband really is the best of the bunch in my family's opinion. And I'm not being paid for this, either!
P.S. Do not wait for an offer. You'll be waiting a long time. You have to take the initiative here but you won't be sorry. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. P.S. Don't leave, haggle! And threaten to leave. . . it's worked for me.Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. If you sound genuine then this will most likely get you the best price because it is a viable alternative.0 -

Currently on £29.99 a month for 50MB Broadband.
Originally signed up for this when they were offering cash of mastercard. Averaged down to about £19 a month.
Tried the "Thinking of leaving BT option", was offering the following deal:
- Fibre 1 (50 MB) @ £24.99 for 24 months
It's okay, but not as good as the new deals being offered by Sky/Virgin and other companies like Shell/Plusnet/Vodafone.
Some people would argue that paying extra for BT is worth it, however, it's not as good a deal as when I first signed up including the cash card vouchers I received.1
