Ellesmere College Don’t Tell The Truth On Sports Scholarships

Just before Coronavirus my child was offered a scholarship at Ellesmere College in Shropshire.
Naively we decided to take our child there as they made us believe they would offer a great opportunity.
The reality was very different as Ellesmere College misrepresented what our child would receive as the sports provision they were promised was massively different to what they received.
As a sports school they left our child with an unqualified bus driver to help him with his sport.
Coronavirus hit and we’ve been in dispute with ellesmere college about the service we’ve received. We have been asked to pay 90% of the school fees even though Ellesmere College is closed and are providing a very poor online teaching service.
Because of our situation where we’ve complained about the sports provision they have stated to our child on a scholarship they that if we don’t pay the school fees during the coronavirus they will be expelled on Wednesday?
Any advice please on how we can stop Ellesmere College from behaving this way as their sports scholarship are a lie, there sports provision is very poor for my child’s sport and they lied to us?
I’m considering legal action against ellesmere college but we only have a few days before they could be expelled.
Coronavirus has stopped them providing any service we expected and I don’t think it’s fair that private schools can charge this. We only took our children to the school because of the scholarship but have threatened to pull this too as we’ve challenged the service they have provided.
This doesn’t seem fair and I would like help from anyone who can advise how we can stop these type of scams regarding sports scholarship at ellesmere college?

Ellesmere College Golf Academy In Shropshire could be a fraud and I’m looking for advice to find out if it is?
Ellesmere College have falsely represented to me that they offered a “high performance” golf academy. They made my son and I lots of promises about how the golf academy at Ellesmere College works, including that they had professional golf coaches available, all coaching was carried out by professional coaches, that the coaches would assist my son with his practice drills that his County Coaches has given him.
After 3 visits to Ellesmere College on taster days, including a session for my son at the Golf Academy, and numerous emails and phone calls to ask lots of questions about how it works we decided to sell our house and move 120 miles to take my son to the Golf Academy.
however since September 2019 to date everything they told us about the golf academy and how they could support my sons golf program has turned out to be a lie.We recently received the bill for the summer terms fees, however after 6 months of lies on how the golf academy works, including:
- no coaches being available
- being taught by staff who were not qualified golf coaches
- my 10 year old son being left on his own numerous times to practice and play golf on his own
- no body helping My son with his practice
- no access to golf equipment and facilities
i have had enough. And I told Ellesmere college I would not be paying the summer terms school fees.
this was also partly because the online teaching due to COVID was a shambles with staff not being able to operate the online learning facilities however I think after 6 months of dealing with the lies, spending 60k to move house to access a supposed golf academy from an elite school that offers lots of sports scholarships they should have delivered on what they promised.
we have reported this matter to trading standards who are investigating this and our solicitors are involved, however I think this is a fraud?
I allege they deliberately lied to us to induce us to spend money with them, does anyone have any other advice about this alleged fraud at Ellesmere College Golf Academy?
This sort of behaviour should not be allowed and i hope this post is found by anyone looking at the Golf Academy at Ellesmere college, so you don’t get caught out and lied to like we did.0 -

A couple of things spring to mind. Firstly why did you need to move? You could have boarded your son, it would have been cheaper than moving.
Secondly their website makes no mention of professional coaching. It says there are fitness coaches but doesn't mention golf coaches. Looking at the website it looks more like an extra curricular activity rather than a formal coaching scheme.2 -
There's a duplicate thread and it looks like little Tiger won't make the cut.

What else do you expect the school to do? They still have staff costs, if the parents don't pay there'll be no school at all.
In any case, it's clear you don't like the school and they can't fulfill your requirements. I'd suggest attempting to enrol your son in a local state school for September.1 -
If your solicitors are already engaged and involved, there's little point seeking advice here. Just let your solicitors deal with it.6
-
Does beg the question as to why, if they're so bad, you want your child to continue to be enrolled there anyway? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -

If that is not what you meant, then please be clearer about what was promised, what was delivered, and how you would like to see this resolved.
Any resolution has to be in the light of coronavirus impacting the provision at every school in the land.
Is the real issue a change in your financial circumstances?3 -

You will need proof of what you are claiming...
Their website does say “There are coaching sessions available throughout the year by a qualified PGA coach.” and “in addition to our own excellent nine hole course, we also have access to explanar swing developers, local driving range and experienced PGA coaches”.
Has he had ANY sessions by a PGA coach? Perhaps start by listing the names of those who have coached him and do some digging into their qualifications?
Did you ask ask any questions and get answers via email to help with evidence?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)3
