    3) Ive Currently had to Freeze any Direct Debits at the moment as i used the current account switching service... My Old Account was Already Closed, as The Lloyds Account was Initially Declared as being Open.. I Used to Bank With Santander Bank so getting that account Back is Almost Impossible...
I don't understand this - the Current Account Switching Service takes at least seven working days but these can't start until the account is open, so if there's a problem with getting the account opened then the switch should be stopped.  Could you perhaps clarify the chronology, i.e. exact dates for when you applied for the Lloyds account, when this was accepted, when the switch process was started, the agreed switching date and the date(s) on which you were advised the Lloyds account was to be closed?

It's not uncommon for accounts to be opened provisionally and for the more detailed checks to result in the opening process to be terminated, but I don't ever recall hearing of a switch to be completed and then the account immediately being shut down, unless there is some sort of CIFAS issue.

Even if it isn't generally possible to reopen a closed account, what would prevent you from applying to open an account with Santander?
I Applied For the Account On the 4th Of May, And was Informed that Checks had been completed and that i was eligible for the account, However , i did not visit the Branch Until the 11th With Identification , and i was Not Contacted Before that Point To Say i wasnt eligible For the Account ?. The Account was Immediately Shut down , leaving me with Nothing. I Have Checked my CIFAS report and there is Nothing that shows on there. I Have Sent an Appeals Pack to Head Office In Hove, With 3 Bank Statements , A Copy Of My CIFAS report, Photocopies of all the Letters and Correspondance that I Was sent by Lloyds , and The Declination Letter Dated On the 11th. I May also Raise a Complaint, or should i wait until i see the outcome Of the Appeal ?.
I Wouldnt Go Back With Santander, As I was Messed about with my account, and Recieved letters stating that i had to transfer money to another account ( i ignored them all completely). Might Try HSBC or TSB If i cant get things Sorted Out with Lloyds
But when did you initiate the seven working day current account switch from Santander and what was the agreed switching date?  I still can't see how this switch went ahead into an account that was effectively already closed, leaving you with nothing, so this may be something to include in a complaint....
The account itself is open but it has been flagged for closure. They place restrictions on it until the customer has emptied any funds from it when it is closed. If the application was declined at a late enough stage, any current account switch that had been started and progressed far enough could not be cancelled.

Unless I misunderstand, you didn't know until the 11th of May, at the earliest, that there was an issue with your account.

It is simply impossible that you obtained a CIFAS report on the same day, so I deduce that you mean credit agency report when you say CIFAS report. They are two very separate things. You need to request a DSAR from CIFAS to see whether you have any CIFAS markers.

I Wouldnt Go Back With Santander, As I was Messed about with my account, and Recieved letters stating that i had to transfer money to another account ( i ignored them all completely). Might Try HSBC or TSB If i cant get things Sorted Out with Lloyds
Santander are obviously of the view that something is very wrong about your financial affairs. They may well have reported this to CIFAS (see above).

It wasn't very wise of you to ignore Santander's request to find a different account, but you are where you are. Please don't waste your time applying anywhere else before you have established what is on your CIFAS profile (see above).

NB. Nothing to do with your ability to get/have a bank account - but what is it with the random Capitalisation in your posts?

I still can't understand the timescales though - the CASS rules make it clear that

Your new bank or building society has to carry out ‘know your customer’ security checks as part of their account opening process. Once these are complete to the satisfaction of the new bank or building society, you can choose and agree your switch date.

If OP didn't provide ID until the 11th (the start of this week) and Lloyds decided that same day that the account was to be closed, how could the 7-day process be initiated thereafter and already completed before now?

I'm not clear on the timescales but I'm just saying it's possible and has been reported on here before that a switch has been completed only for the account to then be declined so leaving the customer without an account at either bank. It happens where the bank uses automatic account opening systems which open the account before the full application had been accepted and passed all stages.

    Hi Guys...
Bit Frightened About using this But its my first time on one of these forums..
Recently Opened  A Bank Account With Lloyds Bank, ( It was Accepted at first), But On the Same Day that it was accepted, i recieved a Text Message telling me that it was unsuccessful. I went into The Branch With Proof of Identification Documents, and Was told the same thing. However , On the same day that i visited the branch, I Recieved a text message telling me that it was Successful, which confused me, because it was 10 Miniutes after i Left the Branch. I have recently called, And was Told that there were no indicators of closure on the account, and Was Informed that i should Visit the branch AGAIN to Double Check This - I cannot do this As I live a while away from my Branch!!. Yesterday, i recieved a letter stating that i was "enrolled for Internet Banking" which was dated on the 12th May, and i was Able to Order a paying In Book Via Self Service Banking , so im still confused as to whats going on. Ive been checking my Internet Banking Every day and it seems fine, But I Just need some advice Please ?
    Thanks...

I may have missed it reading through the thread but have you applied to National Hunter to see if they hold any information on you. I understand their roll is to identify discrepancies in an applicants application form.

In response to Colsten's Question , This Is Correct, i was Unaware Of Any Problems with the account Until the 11th May , i Have Now Obtained a Copy Of My CIFAS report and there is No Adverse Information recorded on the report, so Santander cannot have recorded any Information onto the report, otherwise it would show on it wouldn't it ? .  I Have No Idea why i Capitalise things quite so much i just like it lol.
In Response To Banker's Question, I Am Unsure about what went on behind all of this, all i know Is that My Santander Account has Been Closed, and i am unsure about the situation with the lloyd's account , as it is still showing on my internet banking and The Money is still inside of the account. It is Extremely Confusing, Given that i have been told by Staff that it is still open , and by other staff that it is not Open and that the service has already been "withdrawn"

There's no such thing as a "CIFAS report", so you can't have received a copy of it. I still don't believe that you had received a CIFAS SAR by now, let alone on May 11 as you have claimed earlier, if you requested the SAR on May 11 or sometime since then.

My recommendation stands as before - apply for a CIFAS DSAR.
