Does anybody have BT TV - Does it work OK

Hi,
My Sky TV contract ends on Friday and I have been looking at the new BT TV deals. I just wondered if anybody has BT TV and could let me know if it works ok. I am looking at the entertainment package for £10 per month which comes with the Now TV Entertainment pass. The BT box looks like it does much the same as our old Sky box (Sky HD not Sky Q). I want to be able to record programs and BT said you can now also record the Now TV channels as well. I would also like to be able to use our own Netflix account with the box if this is possible. Appreciate any information. Thank you.

I gave up Sky HD a couple of months ago ( was on a legacy package, no sport, films or box sets ) and it was approaching £36, got the usual retentions offers , but said it was too much for watching Simpsons re-runs.
BTTV works fine, less choice , the NowTV stuff appears on the EPG, my package doesn’t include them, but by all accounts you can record them and available in HD ( something not on regular NowTV )...I’ve no regrets , but you do see posts from some that do regret it, in my case it’s 25% of the Sky cost.

Do you have a working terrestrial UHF TV aerial for Freeview?  BT boxes rely on UHF reception for most main TV channels.  Check your likely Freeview reception here...Checker

You will also AIUI need to have BT Broadband to access some of their  subscription streamed TV services?  http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/c/348/a_id/53501/

Thanks for the info. I do have BT broadband and a TV aerial in the loft. We had a freeview recorder years ago and it was not very reliable. It used to miss the start or end of recordings, etc. but it sounds like BT is the way to go. Thanks again

I have BT TV but not the NowTV selection.  I have a former package no longer available.  Beware the 24 month contract whilst the NowTV from Sky is only month by month.

The BT box is OK but is NOT 1TB, its 500GB.  And it's not wifi enabled, so you will need a lead from your router to the box.

In my opinion, the current selection from BT TV is very poor, and much over priced, and feel BT made a grave error in putting all their eggs in the Sky basket.  They're already offering half price deals to current customers, which is a sure sign their plans with Sky are already going t*ts up.

My advice.  Buy a second hand YouView box on eBay and see if you like it, and get NowTV from Sky month by month until you make a final decision, rather than get tied into a two year BT deal.

BT Box  500gb Or 1TB UHD box was my offer May 2019 .
1TB is DTR  T 4000  for me it was same price as 500GB box through the BT TV ordering , cost circa £60 delivered .

I got my box in September 2019, and no 1TB box was available.  I'm pretty sure that BT don't currently offer a 1TB box, but a new box is scheduled for launch soon, which may have a 1TB capacity.

    i got my 1 TB 4 k UHD box delivered about aug / sept 2019 .
Looks like no stock on the older box now and as you say new model in the pipework .
OP better double check on the box as latest 4K does appear to be 500gb not 1TB .

Some say the 4k box has a fan and get quite hot, possibly thus noisy.

I have a second hand dtr-t2100 for £40 and its OK. Not perfect but certainly nothing in the price range is dramatically better.
