Why would being under or over the vat threshold have any impact on your eligibility for an account?

Any idea how starling are working for newly self employed? Can you estimate turnover? Sole trader started 1st Feb so only have 9 weeks trading before the last tax year ended.

Sole traders who started trading between 6th April 2019 and 1 March 2020 will need:

    • One of the following:

      • your VAT number if you are VAT registered or
      • your 2019/2020 tax return (SA100) AND your 2019/2020 tax calculation (SA302). We know this is earlier than you would normally do your tax return, but it will help us verify your business.
And in the form you estimate predicted turnover.

We haven't had post since Saturday 9th May and even then it was dated 1st May and 30th April. I think they are swamped.
