..another con...a bit like "stop start" and hybrids....complete waste of time for most people.

It gives you all the tips on fuel efficiency and then says: "Driving techniques associated with good fuel economy tend to involve moderate acceleration and low top speeds. Be considerate to the needs of other road users who may need to make brisker progress; even if you do not agree with them this is not an excuse to be obstructive." What does it mean? We have told you how to be fuel efficient but please don't do it? Please don't obey speed limits? If there is someone close behind speed up?0

That's an extremely selfish way to drive. Don't purposely hold up the flow of traffic, and get up to the speed limit at a decent lick, if safe to do so.

Seems to be a large amount of them around here lately - overtook someone pottering along at 45 on an arrow-straight NSL road, and by their reaction you'd think I had just carpet-bombed their house with their kids inside.

Or you shouldn't be allowed to drive with that attitude.

I'm not a big fan of additives although because I run an 'old crate' I occasionally drop a fuel purge additive into a full tank, supposedly it cleans the fuel system, injectors etc I don't know if it does anything but my mechanic reckons its 'okay' and for £3 it doesn't break the bank. Regarding driving and fuel efficiency I agree with all who are saying or implying treat your brake pedal like it isn't there and I do that a lot of the time especially on motorways, why do people brake when on motorway?? I never touch my brakes whilst on a normal flowing motorway, no need to.
I treat my accelerator like its made of sugar glass when I press it and I let the engine gently move the car not rev the !!!!!! off it and give clutch a beating. Oh and if I'm giving the impression I drive like miss daisy I don't lol, I don't hold anybody up I stay to the left wherever possible (what is it with these middle lane herberts?) and I'm courteous to others although that is not always reciprocated, the standard of driving nowadays is IMO p**s poor and I'm not one of those I've been driving 30+ years type its just very poor from what I see especially when I'm on my bike, the only way I keep myself safe is by not trusting ANY car driver.
All in all drive properly and you will get the maximum fuel efficiency from your vehicle.
