Exactly, it's explaining to you how to drive efficiently but asking you not to hold others up - if you're wanting to drive at 40 in a 60 then let the car behind pass.

It's usually 45mph they do. Everywhere, whatever the limit, cruise along at 45mph, past that 70mph sign, past the 50mph, into the 30mph zone, all at 45mph. In a Honda Jazz usually.

Anticipation, forward planning, both of which involve looking beyond the vehicle directly in front.
Both of those minimise braking - brakes = heat = energy which has to be replaced by the further addition of fuel.

..the simplest way to train yourself to drive efficiently is to imagine your journey is (say) 100 miles and you only think you have enough fuel for about 90 and all the petrol stations are closed...that should do the trick..  :)
    .."It's everybody's fault but mine...."
  • Pumping the tyres to a higher pressure will use less fuel but you will have less grip so you have to take it more carefully if you do this; more gap to the car in front etc. etc.. In winter, making sure the heating is turned off until the engine temp  is up to normal will save fuel though be less comfortable and your windows will probably mist up. Turn the air-con off to conserve fuel.

I have always been intrigued by the Haynes manual. It gives you all the tips on fuel efficiency and then says: "Driving techniques associated with good fuel economy tend to involve moderate acceleration and low top speeds. Be considerate to the needs of other road users who may need to make brisker progress; even if you do not agree with them this is not an excuse to be obstructive." What does it mean? We have told you how to be fuel efficient but please don't do it? Please don't obey speed limits? If there is someone close behind speed up?
It's quite obvious really - if someone is looking to pass you, make it easy for them - don't be a helmet who sits in the middle in the middle of the road, flashes people doing perfectly legal overtakes or even worse, speeds up to try and prevent them doing it.

The meaning of the sentence is quite clear :)

    They don't work.
Save your money and buy more fuel with it.
There are the fuel system cleaners that, as manufacturer signed, can save up to 20 gallons every 10000 miles for the price below $14 if talk about Royal Purple additive...
I think it can save some bucks and clean up some internal engine systems.

What? Sounds like snake oil. Are the returns guaranteed?

For all car drivers and lovers, I believe, it will be interested to know about fuel and oil additives, that comes today to us through the market.
Is this a real case to improve mileage efficiency?
What kind of benefits they bring to you and your car?
What is the efficiency of using them?
How do you measure the efficiency?
My main method is to leave the R8 at home and take the Smart Car.

And no, additives that you can buy won’t make any difference.

If you are serious, it means don’t be an !!!!!! and pull away from the lights at a snail’s pace when there are people around you, or drive at 30mph on w country road that is perfectly safe at 60:if you are holding people up.
