Unable to contact on a Sunday...

... so should I be charged fees?
I’m a key worker (non nhs) however I’ve just had my first day off (today in 3weeks) can afford to pay off capital one/Vanquis cards. However I can’t via online/or apps, only if I call however due to the virus currently no Sunday service, what do I do, I’ve emailed so far but no response 😞

Why not? How do you normally make your monthly repayments?

They are open for next 6 days - you don't work 24/7 do you?

Neither of these companies have automated phone lines to take payments? I find that odd.

Went and had a look at Capital Ones website, took me all of 30 seconds to find out the answer is YES you can make payments on an automated phone line. Did the OP actually look?

Due to the impact of the coronavirus our opening hours are currently:

    Mon to Fri 8am - 7pm
    Sat- 8am - 5pm
    Sunday Closed

Out of opening hours there is still the option to use the automated options to self serve including making a payment.

As for Vanquis, 5 seconds of Googling "Vanquis phone payment" brought this up....

Contact Vanquis to make a payment towards your credit card bill by calling their automated QuickCall telephone number 01623 23 23 23 which is open 24 hours a day all year round.
  • Thanks I forgot how google works!
Just for example I’ve just got home working 6am - 7pm so yes out of hours
I paid my account off, cancelled the direct debit and card! however I forgot about the interest accrued, fyi £5.36
I can’t pay automated because I’ve cancelled my card
    Can’t pay via app

Right so how were you planning on paying it then? 🤔

You could have done a bank transfer at any point between statement and due date, at least 3 weeks, if not longer. You could have sent a cheque in the post at any point as well. The fact you left thinking about it until the due date is no concern of the credit card companies.

  • I didn’t know it existed until I received the email/text, which was Friday 10/05
Couldn’t pay via text went to pay on my day off Sunday.

Well for the sake of one day on such a tiny balance nothing would happen anyway. I assume you rang them in your lunch break today to pay? If you claim you dont get a lunch break, then I dont believe you.

You could have also done a payment via internet banking as well, had you asked I would have got you the sort code and account number
