Government Corona Virus Bonus for Low Paid Workers

As the Government have expended a great deal of money on Furlough Payments for Employees taking enforced leave of absence at home, would it be a nice gesture if they rewarded the low paid workers who have struggled through adversity to continue providing services often not appreciated in normal times.
I'm thinking of Shop Staff, Security Staff, Cleaners and other lowly paid professions, people who have actually had to come out of the house to attend their place of employment. These people often have no access to Company Sick Pay Schemes, Decent Pensions etc and are already lowly remunerated.
How about a "National Insurance Holiday" or one off payment in the form of a Tax rebate to say thank you ?
I am thinking about people who get paid £10 hour or less ?

Thank God you're not the Chancellor - at least he knows that their isn't a magical money tree.6

Unlikely.
Just like those on ESA/JSA are not getting the temporary increase those getting the UC equivalent are.
You know, the existing UC claimant with LCWRA who is in exactly the same position I am now and pre coronavirus.
Only one of us gets the extra money...

My wife works in a shop and her employer has just given them all a nice bonus, and increases their staff discount to 15%. And there are extra hours if you want. She feels she is being treated very well.

The government can't afford to give them all a bonus, the reality is it will probably be the other way round. The government will be taking more money of them one way or another to pay for all of this.1

Those working for the big supermarkets, Asda etc....I would really hope with the profits they will be making right now they will be the ones dishing out the bonuses.

if typing in millions is a good idea then why not type in billions
why not trillions and do helicopter drops into everybody’s bank accounts like USA, Japan, and all the other countries are doing
a million here and million there and pretty soon you are talking about real money0 -
Shop workers are not low paid - at the start of last year my friend reminded me she was on over £9 (nww was £8.21 at the time...) and lived 2 minutes walk from the supermarket, often flits between part and full time because it suits, in fact she was savvy against applying for work or setting up her own intended business rate for less then what her role gave her, despite no experience other then retail. I remember going for part time work in 2016 in a major supermarket when the rate was higher then min wage!! (the sting being it was part time of course at 12 hrs but people in that position can always get benefits to top them up!!?) whereas the person who goes to work full-time, less so.
Likewise it is great and really motivating when you see your own salary figure advertised as a junior position....
A Junior Admin Assistant is required for an Engineering company. This is a full time position. The role will involve assisting a number of senior managers with various admin duties covering different departments. Car driver necessary due to rural location of office. Starting salary £16,000

I can't get a tax rebate because I don't earn enough to pay tax at the moment, but Im sure that will change next year when the chancellor has to come after the low paid to pay back all this borrowing he's doing0
