Hi,
I observed that there are some properties advertised during april and now sold STC. I am struggling to understand, are there people viewing houses during lockdown? or buying houses without even viewing ?

Some EAs are doing viewings by video.

yes . but do you think that people may make an offer without viewing the house in the real life?AnotherJoe said:Some EAs are doing viewings by video.0 -
Perhaps they are offers from properties already viewed?
personally I can’t imagine buying a residential property without a real life viewing but for an investment it’s a tick box exercise and would matter a lot less.A third possibility is people breaking lockdown to view but that’s speculation.0 -
Its odd isnt it ? I couldn't imagine buying without personally viewing. I remember a couple of months ago viewing a house through the windows ( back and front ) and looking through the letter box as house was empty. I thought yeah defo looks good. We went inside the next day and it was a definite no no ! Weird how it seemed ok through windows but inside and upstairs it wasnt the same and the flow wasnt right0

I've read one post where someone said they made an offer based on the video walk around, but will view the property after lockdown to see if it's viable; that made no sense to me.
I wouldn't have purchased mine without a physical viewing of it.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
I should imagine there are a fair few who have already viewed houses and are now making offers. We are ready to exchange on our purchase as soon as we are allowed, but should it fall through, there is another house that we viewed prior to all this that has recently come back onto the market, so we potentially would put an offer in on that without viewing again as we have already seen it.0

I could never make an offer just from pictures and video online, I don't even buy clothes online!1

It's possible they might make offers with a view of viewing when possible.MobileSaver said:dani17 said:do you think that people may make an offer without viewing the house in the real life?I wouldn't do it but everyone is different.Friends of mine purchased their expensive, posh family home purely on the basis of the Estate Agents particulars and photos; they were working abroad at the time so only saw it in real life once they'd already bought it and finally returned to the UK, it worked for them as they ended up living there for around 30 years...0 -
But be prepared for the offer to be rescinded once they have seen the property in person, thereby negating this and pointless tbheidand said:
