TUI Refund

My holiday was cancelled in March by TUI, I went to the store I booked it with and gave them my bank details, as this was what they told me to do. To date I still haven’t received my refund. I’ve telephoned TUI and they have said I can only get my refund from the shop I booked it with.
Does anybody know if this is correct.
Thanks

Yes , the same applies to paying balances for in-store booking.

Relaxation of social distancing on Monday may allow the shops to open again

    Surely this is illegal???

I was booked to go away on the 30th of April. I received my credit notice email last week. I have been trying constantly for 3 days to try to get my refund as I do not want their offer. Yes, I understand there are 1000's of people in the same boat trying to recoup their money. Why wasn't we just given an option in the email received asking if we wanted the the credit and the added bonus or, if we wanted a direct refund??? No, instead we have to waste, literally, days trying to get through to a phone system that must only have one person answering the phone!!!! What is worse, its lets the phone call go through, so you are charged, then to tell you, "sorry we receiving a large number of calls, please try later".
    AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!
Then, one time out 362 times of trying today, yes thats today, I got through. I press 2 the 2 again for the next section then 1 t fly with Tui. I was patiently listening to the silly music for 30 minutes, then it wen quiet. I thought I was through.
"hello, hello, hello"..... Then they put the phon down on me.
I am really at the end of my tether trying to recoup my money. I have phoned them well over 1300 times in three days. Can someone please tell me a different way? Can I email them, can I email ABTA? I was going to try and get money back through my back as I paid for the holiday for 4 people in full on my debit card. However, I read that if I recouped the money back like that it would be like I have cancelled the holiday, even though its been cancelled, and I would lose a substantial amount of the money....
I, like most people at this moment at this time, are in financial hardship and just want our money back.
    PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!!!

I'd advise reading through the long running existing thread for TUI here

Here is some help - keep trying. That is all anyone can tell you. Trying on a Monday after the lines have been shut 2 days maybe not the best idea either.

Oh, and use the 60 page thread.

If you want to can contact your debt card company and ask for a Chargeback on the transaction(s)
Tell them you have found it impossible to contact TUI  and it's been over 14 days since they cancelled the holiday.
    TUI can contest a Chargeback,.
If it's already been cancelled by TUI it's safe to use this method.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

I've had exactly the same problem with TUI. Even when I call just before opening hours, the recorded message states that "due to large number of calls, etc" they cannot answer right now, try later!!

My travel date has now passed, how long will it take to get the credit voucher email ?
I have tried so many times ringing but get the same message to try again later.  Will they contact me or should I keep trying to ring or should I go through the section 75 route with my credit card to get my money back ?
  • Received my refund voucher last Friday, rang the mobile no.,had to hold for about 40 minutes, then spoke to a very helpful lady who
processed my request for a cash refund.Money back in my credit card account yesterday.Pleased with the way I've been treated I must be one of the fortunate ones.

You are very lucky. Our package holiday was cancelled for 15th March. Should have automatically had a refund (yeah!!). We were sent a credit note instead. After several attempts I got through to TUI. 1st time refund promised then an email to contact refunds team (again). 2nd time TUI said he had  no clearance to authorise refunds for that date and would pass up to his line manager. Of course still no refund. Delaying tactics. I have also completed the on line form (remember they only want the surname of the lead passenger). Still nothing. Holiday now passed by nearly 3 months and TUI still have my money. Disgraceful and 'date order' seems to be irrelevant.
