Help switching from expensive tariff - new build property

We moved into a new build property in February and were told by the builder that the energy was currently with E-on. During the first week, we attempted to switch from them to Bulb. Bulb said they couldn't find our house on the database and that we should contact E-on to get the property added. We contacted E-on who couldn't find us on their systems either; we had to provide the reference numbers for the meters before they could locate our property, which they still had listed as a plot number. E-on then asked for a full name, the full address, a date of birth, the date we became responsible for the property, the meter readings on our moving in and up to date meter readings so they could get their system corrected and said it would "not happen overnight" as they "have a back log". We're still waiting. Meanwhile, we're stuck on an expensive tariff that, according to the smart meter's in home display, is costing us £4 a day (a whopping £50 a month more than we were paying at our old house).
Is there anyone who has any experience of a similar situation and can offer some advice on anything we can do our end to expedite this process?

First thing I would do is make sure that E-on have you on their cheapest tariff that doesn't have an exit penalty...Secondly do check the terms of the tariff they have you on at the moment as it may not be the same as the one the IHD is using.Also write and mail a formal complaint to them over the time this is taking and the increased costs you are suffering. If nothing else it starts the clock ticking on your ability to take this to the ombudsman.3

It's not a good idea to compare your new house with your old one - what is important is how you use your energy in your new house. By "new" do you mean new to you or brand new build.
Read your actual meter every day and get used to your consumption of both gas and elec. What are yours after your first 4 months ?
PS Describe your property to us - are you a 1 bed all electric flat or a 4 bed detached gas heated

Robin9, new build. Four bed detached, gas heated, triple glazed. Moved from a 10 year old 4 bed semi-detached, gas heated, double glazed.
MWT, thanks, all great suggestions. I'll have to look into E-on's tariffs. Don't know why we hadn't thought about switching with them - I guess we were just focused on switching away.0 -
Madeline - Likewise a 4bed detached gas heated but 1970's so your insulation should be much better than mine. A couple of OAPS, always someone at home. Your house will be drying out so gas consumption may be a bit higher

Go ahead with your switch and see what happens.. There's nothing to lose, although Bulb probably won't be the cheapest.Check who you currently supplies you. For electricity, your DNO's website will tell you. Dial 105 if you are unsure who is your DNO. For gas, it's https://www.findmysupplier.energy/webapp/index.html0

Robin9, bit late in the day to go out trying to read the meter now but will check tomorrow. We haven't had the heating on in well over a month, though - certainly not since lockdown commenced. We're a couple with a 17yo daughter. Husband and I both working from home, him in IT, but he works from home all the time anyway and I only started working outside the home after the move.0 -

I like good data - all you seem to have is a snapshot £4 a day from the IHD toy which is leading you to believe this will result in £50 a day over what your old house cost. IHD's have been known to misbehave.
See what your actual consumption has been since February.
You will need some consumption data (or use a typical 10000 Kwh gas/3000 Kwh elec) when you come to switch anyway.
PS Use separate suppliers when you do.
I'm with Gerry1 try to switch - if your property is known to Eon as Plot 123 rather than 12 Acacia Avenue then use that.
