what if i could show that i bought it at the market rate and didnt gain from it, because honestly i did not, i bought from a main dealer a car that had apparently only bee used by them as a company car and demonstratort was about 12 months old when i bought it and i thinking that iwas ripped off by the dealer
But - IF the scandal had depressed used values, which is what compo is being claimed for, then that market value was lower than without the scandal.

If, otoh, the market value hadn't been depressed, then there's nothing to claim.

But that doesn't change the fact that you can't claim compo for something you knew about before buying...

If you can show you bought at a price similar to the price prior to the emissions malarky all that proves is nobody has a claim because it didn't affect prices in any meaningful way, which is what most of us on here would argue anyway.  So any claim by these shyster lawyers is bound to fail and they will be looking for money.  Wonder where they will get that from?

Did you receive a letter from VW stating any of your cars were effected?

  • Hi. Does anyone know of a good solicitors firm who are still taking applications for VW Emissions scandal claims? Both Leigh and Day & Slater and Gordon are not accepting new claims. Thanks.

Genuine question: how have you suffered as a result of the VW Emissions scandal?

  • Have I completely missed the boat on this? Bought Audi December 2015 . Received letter from Audi October 2016 re EA 189 service action. Another letter December 2016 to say time to have emissions service applied. January 2017 car went into Audi for software update for exhaust gas emissions. I thought that was it all fixed but have just been reading about past claims procedures. I'm wanting to sell my car but now worried this will effect the value. Are there any lawyers still taking the case on? Is it necessary to lodge case with a lawyer as if VW Audi are found at fault will they not have to pay out compensation to all effected owners?

You bought the car in December 2015. Right at the height of the coverage of the "scandal" that had broken three months earlier.

What, exactly, do you think your losses are and why should you get compo for something you should have known about pre-purchase...?
