IF you're that adamant the council are at fault, take them to Court then.0

If the crossing didn’t need bollards they wouldn’t have had them there in the first place, so they are clearly there for a reason?Life in the slow lane1

As you were turning into another road, I hope that it's safe to assume that you were not going at an excessive speed so why weren't you able to see something in the road? something big enough to cause quite a bit of damage to your car.0 -

Sorry for my bad photo editing skills, In the first photo red is the junction I was coming from, green where the crossing is. These pictures are obviously in day and the accident was at night but just want to give an idea. The second photo is my view from the junction the red arrow shows my cars direction whilst the green shows the direction of the oncoming car. This is the view of the
This is the view of crossing and the road I am joining, obviously both bollards were missing at the time of my accident and it was pitch black. My headlights were pointing forward until I turned which when I did was too late. Luckily I was only going 10-15 mph.Any help or advice appreciated. Thanks0 -
Surely one or both of the streetlights was working.
Even if they weren't, I still can't see how you managed to hit the central island as your headlights will still have illuminated it in plenty of time especially as you were only moving at 10-15mph.1 -
Your side of the carriageway that you were turning into is at least 1.5 times wider than the other side. There is more than enough room for you to have turned into. I would suggest that you turned into that road too fast and didn't allow yourself enough time to take off the steering lock and drove into the traffic island yourself.
As I've previously said, if you're so sure the council are at fault, sue them yourself. See if a solicitor will take up your claim on a No Win No Fee. They won't take the claim because there are no prospects of success.0 -
This is the photo I took from my view of the crossing just after the accident occurred. When turning the crossing was in my blind spot near the drivers side wheel I didn’t fully drive over the whole thing only the driver side went over it. If the bollards were there like they should have been, this wouldn’t have happened?Thanks0

Adrian gave you the correct answer earlier, if the council inspected the road at the required interval then you have no claim against them.
To damage your car on that you must have been going reasonably fast as hitting that at a turning speed of 10 - 15mph would not do much damage to your car3 -
