YES I AM!!!! But in my defence I have been saving up for it for two years now and it is partially subsidised by mum and stepdad who I'm going with.

I'm off to florida in four weeks. Hence the lack of payments towards this challenge. But i've really got to get back on the horse. I've been spending like there's no tomorrow recently. Not on major stuff but loads of fabric and sewing stuff. Gone completely mad on sewing but am hoping to recoup some expenses by selling a few of the bits i've made.

In fact might go and investigate the car boot just down the road in a minute.

Heres hoping I can get myself a bit more sorted over the next few days.

    Hi Happy Chick,
I know what you mean about being 'torn' about booking a holiday. Holidays have probably been my worst failing when it comes to paying off my debt (and getting me in debt in the first place) I always book as cheap as possible but still end up spending over £1000 + (including spends) for me and OH, as we can only go in school hols. I have promised myself NOT to book a holiday during the challenge, but thoughts of lying on a beach baking in the sun keep creeping into my mind on a daily basis  and I don't know how long my will power wil last.
You have done really well to get your holiday so cheap - just relax and enjoy it.
  • I'm going in holiday too - my compromise was to go for a week and not a fortnight like I usually. It's my one indulgence and I really need it! I'm paying it up every month and using my Pigsback vouchers to pay for it too.

I'm really naughty then I'm going on holiday in jan so am saving for that!!!..£3k for a fortnight in Mexico all inclusive inc upgraded flights...but I don't care and promise to book a last mi nute one for the year after..lol
  • Just listed a load of Monsoon clothes on Ebay - fingers crossed for me, I couldn't work out how to get TurboLister to let me have a reserve of less than £50 so someone might get a 99p bargain!!

I want a holiday but to be fair I probably don't deserve one yet - I went on a weekend to france in January and am staying the night in a spa hotel soon (both done on the very cheap) - but oh what I wouldn't give for a week lying by a pool doing nothing but reading books, eating lovely food, drinking lovely drinks and talking rubbish with a friend.

I used to think I would hate doing nothing holidays but I was very wrong.

  • Hi everyone.

I've been really busy at work, so haven't been here for a while. Everyone is doing so well - you all deserve a holiday :) .

I've paid a little bit more, but I'm way off target. I have to admit that there has been some faffing going on :o .

I've just read through the thread again and realised I still haven't done some of the things I said I was going to do (or rather, I started to do them, then gave up).

Cross my heart, I will stop faffing immediately.

Going back to Panda's post from yesterday, I am not counting the interest paid, only the actual capital amount by which I reduce my debt.....

The amount in my signature is the amount I would have to pay if I cleared the debt today. It does not include any interest.......if i did a calculation to include interest, then my outstanding debt would be far too scary - into 6 figures I think, and might actually act as a demotivator rather than as a motivator, although the totals would come down quicker, and my challenge total would go up quicker!!

On another note.....only one more week to go before the next lot of loan repayments go out. Why is it that Feburary is the shortest month, but it seems even longer than January :rotfl:

  • I've started clearing my £16000.00 and a bit debt I've collected over the years.
I've just reached theat time in my life when I've said enough struggling and spontanious spending. Budget, budget, budget and with MoneySavingExpert.com help and advise I'm getting there.
I've set me goals high and am paying off all the little debts first then using that money to tackle the Big one. I'm paying extra into that aswell and have 24 months left and with all the extra going in clear it by December 2008.
I'm pending payments for being overdrawn and awaiting the court decission and have received some money back and am now tackling the PPI issue on past and present loans and CC.
Today I bought the two lads 2 helicopters for £10 each and felt guilty cose I could use that money to pay towards a debt.
You are not alone and I hope you aswell as I can acheive this goal?

£14997.00 still to go by December 2008
    Now £14325.00 17/04/08

In my siggy my total debt figure is without interest (I agree it would be miserable to have total debts with total interest repayable showing:eek:) but I am tracking the amount I have paid and the amount my debt is reduced by - I might have a fighting chance of hitting one target or the other that way.:rotfl: [oh and it reminds me of how much I have paid in interest which should spur me on to reduce the debt and therefore the interest]
