Judging by this company's mentions on Twitter there are a LOT of angry customers out there.
A lot of people are also doubtless "angry" that the global pandemic has deprived them of their livelihood or, worse, of family and friends. :(

    Perspective.

As you've already drawn a refund from your Bank I suggest you refuse delivery of your flowers, otherwise get the bank to reverse the chargeback.

Yes, fully aware there's a global pandemic, thanks. Believe it or not, it is possible to be both remorseful about the current situation and also angry about other things at the same time. The fact of the matter is, customers would have been a lot more understanding of Gardening Express's predicament had they made the effort to respond to support tickets. Instead, they focused on processing new orders, sending out promotional tweets and very selectively highlighting the few snippets of praise that has been sent their way, all whilst ignoring thousands of customers who have already paid. Had they managed expectations of existing customers instead of purely thinking maximising profits they wouldn't have got into this mess.
I've had a bad experience with this company.  After reading reviews it looks like this has been going on way before the pandemic. And to be honest using the pandemic as an excuse for treating your customers so poorly is no excuse.

This is not  good company to deal with. Some plants they send out are not up to standard but they make it difficult to communicate with them. Read the reviews before you order but not the ones on their site. They eliminate any bad ones.

Just note: "Gardening Express is 233 out of 234 best companies in the category Garden centre on Trustpilot".

Reviews.io: "3 % of reviewers recommend Gardening Express"

I would never buy from them again and would rather pay more at a garden centre for good quality plants.

.....Or even a real nursery, where they still exist, thus cutting out the middle personages and giving support to the local economy. :)

I have just had a bad experience with this company. The plants they sent were not as described ( smaller size, poor shape, not in bud and bloom as promised and one was damaged ) .Their response is that they can't see anything wrong in the photos but I can send them back and if they arrive in  original packaging in a saleable condition, I can have a refund or exchange. Problem! I had to cut the plants out of the box as they were jammed in and all sellotaped together. I have to pay to return and find a carrier. They suggest you insure them in case they arrive damaged. None of this is refundable. You are going to lose most of the purchase price by returning plants. Lets face it, they have already told you your plants are ok ( kind of -well they are alive what more do you want?) so they are not going to suddenly agree they are not as described. I was sucked in by positive reviews on their site, but in keeping with their apparent lack of transparency and honesty, a former post says that they remove negative reviews. Also doesn't seem possible to leave a facebook review.  I won't ever order from them again and would recommend others to look elsewhere.
  • Last year in autumn I purchased a clematis from Gardening Express, and was very disappointed to receive it in the condition it came in... It should've been healthy at the time of year I got it, as that variety should still have healthy growth at that time of the year...yet the one I received had all the leaves were falling off, and I was just left with grey dead looking woody stems.

I reported the problem straight away, and upon request of the GE chat agent, I cut a couple of the stems to see if there was any healthy looking sap in the stems. There wasn't. I sent photos of proof, but was told to wait until this year (March 2022) to see if it would come to life. The plant still has no signs of life, so I approached Gardening Express through chat again, and was just told to send it back...Not happy about that, having already spent £17 for a dead plant...The upshot is they want me to send it back. Ridiculous that there policy insistscustomer has to pay postage costs for a plant reported dead on arrival.

I will never use them again.

    Really disgraceful imho
