If she wears full protective equipment i.e. visor, mask, apron and gloves, and wears a new set for every customer, there shouldn't be much risk of cross contamination, but it would still go against guidance. Good luck on getting hold of the required PPE.

No, they don't say 'stay home but still go to work if you can'. If you take the time to read the guidance, instead of sounding off here, you may go to work if you cannot work from home. Common sense dictates that your wife cannot observe social distancing if she is giving a beauty treatment, so what more do you need?spencerrothchild said:There is no clarity
It’s like the government are covering their backs
they say stay home but still go to work if you can
what the hell is the official direction
However the OP has since said....All very well but customers don’t want her to
the crisis has ended so many businessesSo it is a total Catch 22
this is true of so much going on around the world right now0 -
I have to admit, if our hairdresser could work if wearing a mask, we would have her round immediately. I haven't had my hair this long since I was a teenager, and that was a very, very, long time ago.

I think you'd all have to wear masks, but I feel your pain, DH may have to do my fringe later ...TELLIT01 said:I have to admit, if our hairdresser could work if wearing a mask, we would have her round immediately. And if I could get a massage, I wouldn't care WHAT the masseur was wearing!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

* If your business is in one of the deemed catagories it must close.
* If its not, if you can work from home, you should or if you cant work from home but can go to your place of work and social distance then you should.
Your wifes business must close because its in the first category - its one of the business types that must stay closed.
Irrespective of the explicit request to close, she couldnt perform her business tasks and social distance anyway.

It was. Although I am desperate for a massage, just as DH is desperate for a sauna (at the gym, not the other sort). For both of us, these are ways in which we keep ourselves healthy and sane.motorguy said:

Any idea when we are allowed to go back to work
we are getting desperate now no income at all for months0 -
Thinking aloud here …..... if your wife could wear a visor, mask and gloves and provide mask and/or visor for client, could she carry out foot massage and pedicures …….she wouldn't be within inches of the clients face then, if it's sunny and warm could it be done outside ???
Just wondered, sometimes thinking outside the box can be helpful …..
