  • TP reviews on booking sites will
mean nothing when people have to pay out more to book direct with airlines. They will still let the cost outweigh in the end and take the risk.
It is hard to disagree with you. For some people, it does not matter, for people like me the good reviews do matter before making a booking.

Just curious - did you check reviews for On The Beach BEFORE you booked this holiday?

I wouldn't "Trust" Trust Pilot as far as I could throw them.
According to their site BA have got a lower rating than Last Minute.com !!!
From my personal experience the exact opposite is the case with regard to refunds and contactability.
How Last Minute have still got a 50% Excellent Rating is a travesty bearing in mind about 99% of reviews in the last six months have given it ( because they have to) 1 star.

    Hi,
I must admit, not before this holiday. We used them once before and then I checked them out, but their reviews were much better back then.

Did you see that trust pilot has only 4.2 score on trust pilot? :)
I think that the problem may be that they remove negative reviews, but they will never tell you what is the reason for removing and they say that's their policy. After myself, my wife and my son left the reviews of onthebeach on trustpilot, their system flagged them as fraud and the reviews were removed. We all challenged that decision (you have 7 days to do it) and they asked us to provide booking confirmation. 30 minutes later we got an email that the reviews will remain removed but they will not provide the reason for it and that the decision is final.
So as a matter of fact, I don't trust trustpilot anymore and you should be careful too. We need a better solution.

I confirm this. The company is a joke. I have a similar situation, the company is refusing to refund flights until they get the money back from the airline. Sounds fair? I don't think so. That's their risk and if they don't have the money maybe they should take a loan to cover for the lack of funds until the airline pays them back. According to The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 they have 14 days to do the refund. We've been waiting for 3 months and zero communication and their customer services say they still don't know who long to wait.
A terrible company that I will never use and please don't use them too.
If you reading this thread, please make sure you leave then a bad review on trust pilot or other websites like that.
It looks like they are now asking customers who just have booked to do a review, but these people don't know what they signed up too yet.
Instead of berating them why don't you be proactive and instigate a chargeback, you've already wasted three months so take ownership of the situation and do something useful instead of posting an inane rant on here.

I got my money back but not from onthebeach but from my bank. Eventually, a human from onthebeach responded saying that they won't refund until they get money back from the airline. I responded that they are in breach of The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements and they responded admitting that. This gave me the base to use section 75 and withing few days I got the money back on credit card.
I welcome this news: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55142938 and hopefully onthebeach is next.

OTB have had a dreadful reputation for years.
On an old travel forum (Holidaytruths IIRC) they had their own dedicated thread on the 'complaints' board.

As a previous poster says, I wouldn't trust Trustpilot reviews.
