They have emailed saying...Did you get a full refund from OTB? I’m due to travel with them on 2nd May
There has been a lot of ‘noise’ in the media about airlines and holiday companies seeking to force customers to take a voucher instead of a refund.
On the Beach will issue a full refund of all monies paid subject to us receiving a flight refund in cash from the airline.
So here's hoping0 -
So I received an email from onthebeach saying my refund was ready for collection on mybookings on their page. Went on thinking happy days, only to find they had offered less than what I had paid. The difference that was still owed was £162.64. This is according to what I paid for the hotel and transfers on my booking confirmation. Now whenever I contact them they just tell me its closed but I want back what I have paid. Any help would be great.0

Did they cancel or did you?0

As On the Beach cobble together the different elements of a holiday, rather than sell a total package, it would just sound like one element (the flight) has been refunded at the moment. Each travel element will have different terms and processes again refunding/credit. The email was just likely an automated one to let you know a refund/credit has hit your account. Hopefully other elements will be refunded in due course.0

Hi I have a scenario and just don't know where i stand. I booked a flight plus hotel with on the beach to Turkey on the 28th May 20. I booked this in January 20 and Paid the initial payment of £55 the following February i paid the next instalment of £355. the next instalment was due on the 22nd March with the Balance of 2k + due in April. Then the pandemic hit. On the 20th March OTB emailed to offer to cancel the holiday but would charge 30% of the flights plus £55 and then £25 per person admin fee, faced with the possibility of paying over £2300 into company for a booking that was unlikely to go ahead and the potential wait to get any refunds or anything should the company not survive the economic downturn, we cancelled. OTB then sent me another statement showing the whole amount i had paid to date would be the charge for cancelling (strange). I have since contacted OTB to ask if they would be willing to provide a voucher of sort sorts for the amount towards a holiday next year.. Response was No, you cancelled, have a nice day!
So my questions are
1. if i had pad the monies and then needed to claim back through my insurance would the paying of the money when the holiday was unlikely to happen be seen as fault by myself, effectually making any insurance claim void?
2. I have annual insurance taken out before the 16th March for the 4 people on the trip but also insurance with my bank account for the 2 adults. The insurance for the 4 of us are stating that we should seek redress through OTB but they are refusing.
3 We paid the amount on a credit card, would this be covered to claim back?
Seems to be that OTB saw an opportunity to play upon peoples fears and reduce the risk of full refunds by offering those that had only made part payment a cancellation where they could still skim off some money and not refund the full amount, sneaky !

2. What's the question? Insurance won't pay out if you voluntarily cancel.
3. No, because you cancelled voluntarily.
It seems to me that the amounts you paid before cancelling were your deposit. If that's the case, then it's perfectly normal for the deposit to be forfeited if you cancel. Check your contract. Were the £55 and £355 payments the first and last payments of a "low deposit scheme"? If so, your contract probably states they would be lost in the event of you cancelling voluntarily.

I had my holiday cancelled by onthebeach.com, also received an email to say I would get a full refund, subject to airlines refunding OTB. I received a second mail to confirm a refund had been processed, I've had nothing refunded to my card. The only sign of refund is a credit for the hotel part, when I check my account with OTB. Wondering how long I need to leave it before I contact the credit card company. I've never claimed via credit card protection before....

Sorry ladies and gents0

If they have cancelled it then they shouldn't be taking any payment, but that doesn't mean they won't
How was it due to be paid?
