I have booked a holiday to centre parks in July. Paid deposit, and was advised balance due five weeks before travel. Reluctant to pay any more even five weeks out, can I have a refund. What are my rights, contacted centre parks but obviously they are super busy

If you don't pay the balance you will be deemed to have voluntarily cancelled and will lose your deposit.

Your post would be more appropriate to this board:
But have you looked at Centre Parc's website:

I've not read it in full but the advice for tour operators such as TUI are to pay the balance otherwise you lose your deposit.

  • Thanks for this, yes I had checked the CP info out prior to launching the thread (albeit on the wrong part of the forum, apologies for this). Ok, so pay the balance if you don’t want to forfeit the deposit. Presumably if CP can’t offer the same level of core services if cv restrictions still I place e.g. access to communal facilities, then that would be grounds for full refund. Basically I don’t want to pay for a rubbish holiday! Appreciate these are first world problems so thanks for taking the time

Why don't you repost on the Coronavirus thread and see what replies you get on there.
I don't recollect seeing specific threads on Centre Parcs but I'm sure you're not the only one in that position.

You will have to pay it off.
If its then cancelled, youll get your money back.
If not, then you can still go on holiday.

If you dont pay, it will be you cancelling and you wont be entitled to a refund.
  • Pay at least some of the deposit on a credit card to get S75 protection. July is 3 months off and they may well be open by then.

Bingo. At the moment, July is fair game. If they aren't allowed to open you'll get a refund or can choose another date.
What exactly will happen if they are "open" but you can't use any of the facilities, I don't know, but I don't think they'll open unless everything is available.
Our worry is that everything will be open when we head down, and another lockdown will kick in mid holiday.

If that happens, you should receive compensation.

It's not really the financial element I'm worried about, since I'm confident of compensation.
It's more the lockdown part - will we be able to travel the length of the country to get home or do we need to stay in the cabin? Will we be able to get food on the way? Will there be any hotels open to break up the journey?

You've not said when you're booked to go.
The OP is going in July.

You're worrying about several things that may not happen.
Centre Parcs may not even be open in July.
But if they are, you are then worrying about another lockdown whilst you are at Centre Parcs.
Of course you will be allowed to get home if another lockdown is announced after this one is lifted.
    Nobody can say if assuming:
    1. Centre Parcs are open and
    2. another lockdfown is announced during your holiday
you can get food on the way home or if hotels will be open because nobody knows which CP you are going to and where you live.

I'd stop worrying about what-ifs and wait to see how the lockdown goes.
Centre Parcs are clear on their website that:
we continue to monitor and review the national situation and will extend our closure period in line with the latest government guidelines.
