So I think we can probably assume one of two things.   Either the OP has woken up to news of the worldwide pandemic and accepted the views of others that chasing £20 via the small claims court or wasting trading standards time would be churlish - or he/she has looked back at the hotel description/comments and actually discovered that the city tax payable locally was mentioned all along.

Neither. I know that in certain countries there are local taxes to be paid. Some holiday packages cover these taxes as well.
I am not adverse to these taxes but when the retailers says 'includes taxes and local fees' to sell their holidays then it should be that - inclusive of all taxes. People have to budget and to be presented with extra cost at destination comes a surprise. These retailers adopt this practice to get an edge over their competitors (who may be more hinest and transparant).
No, 20 quid may be not a lot of money for you guys. However, when you add up all the extra monies that travellers have to stump up it will be a large amount.
Believe me, I am not going to let this go. Not will I get a refund but force the retailers to change its business practice and be transparent.

What is the name of the company you booked with and the name of the hotel?

Money claim online starts at £25. Trading standards report can be filed using an online form.

However - it would may be useful to you to reveal the aforementioned information so that the folks here can opine on the merits of your case - they might just save you £25 and a lot of hassle.

Dunno about $50 but Vegas hotels charge $37 plus tax so $42 dollars a day.
A few are now $45 plus tax taking them over 50

I read the faq of loveholidays which says you have to pay them locally. That this means that fee was never included in the statement of "includes all taxes and local fees"

"Certain countries impose additional taxes such as tourist or city tax. This is payable when you arrive at your accommodation and is for maintenance of local facilities. You are wholly responsible for paying these taxes locally and they are subject to change by pronouncement of overseas governments."

I also went through checkout for that same hotel (Les Jardins de L Agdal) and it shows local fees to pay locally at checkin when you go through checkout (I didn't pick the dates, just let it select random ones to see checkout)

    Amount due at hotel
Hotel fees & local tourist tax* £1.70
*All hotel fees and tourist taxes are locally payable, directly to the hotel.
The amount shown is estimated at today's exchange rate, but will be charged in local currency at the hotel.

I did not see that Hotel fees (maybe I just missed it). But its 1.70GBP - I would happily that. But I was asked for over 20GBP which is considerably more. Something tells me that the 1.70 is maybe a daily rate but they do not specify that, just to make it attractive (I mean who is going to be bothered about 1.70).
They state all taxes inclusive on the price page yet have a caluse somewhere? How cheeky is that? Its like saying "open 7 days a week, except Sundays".
This is wholly misrepresentation and I am not buying it. If I can be misled then thousands others will.

Well who is bothered about paying £20 when the hotel is costing you over  £600 plus transport, I think you need to step back and put things in perspective.

I see your logic but bear in mind that they are misleading thousands of people and £20 becomes tens of thousands of pounds. Why should they be allowed to make more profit through misrepresentation and disadvantage to other firms and customers?
