The last line says "I hope you are not such a company and we can resolve this amicably". This implies the threat is only aimed at tenants trying it on. If I were you, and being mindful of the point about an article, I would demonstrate to her that you are in financial difficulties. It should be easy enough. That then eliminates the threat, but obliges her to stand by her last statement to resolve it amicably. That logically means she contemplates an outcome that isn't just paying her on time.

Did you qualify for any of the rates based grants, SEISS or CJRS? Can you get a business interruption loan?
That phrase has me thinking it's a scam.

I've had the name dropping, my response is always along the lines of "If they're using my name then you can assume they're a stranger to me, as anyone who knows me well enough to actually use my name knows I wouldn't approve of them doing so".
I've heard Martin on the radio talking about scams using his name to sound legitimate - I would think he'd be just as upset at a colleague doing it.

I think he won a large amount from Facebook for those ads.
I do think this journalist is probably regretting the wording in the letter/email.

Sadly, the OP may find themselves with a section 21 at first opportunity once the lockdown is over.
I'm reminded of a friend of my fathers who, having got fed up of someone name dropping in the pub, responded "I'll bet they dont drop your name half as much as you drop theirs"

I actually called BBC Radio 2 to try and speak to him

The Joint Head of Complaints at the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) got back to me after I sent them the email, and they said specifically that the journalist has broken Clause 3 of their code of conduct which is:
"Journalists must not engage in intimidation, harassment or persistent pursuit."

My landlord is quite clearly trying to intimidate me with her job title and with her connections. They have given me the contact details of the person to speak to at the Mirror to complain.

I appreciate your efforts to challenge the contents of the letter.

However do you wish to remain the long term tenant after the crisis? Or do you consider your business at those premises permanently over?

I wouldn't worry to much about it, if they are genuinely that person and they do publish the story the other papers would pay a fortune for a copy of your emails. Daily mail and the like would have a field day, competitor threatening small businesses. The likes of private eye would love it too.

Lol, at a time when my company may have to liquidate if my landlords don't ease up, its great to hear that I may be able to make some money in another way.

You've obviously not read online that Martin is dead? Probably ads in the same paper you are talking about!
PS, its not true btw but it doesn't stop the ads :)
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)
