I am so glad that I set the switch in motion a few weeks ago. I am looking forward to the straightforward pricing by this company. The price hike by n power is only the start and I don`t want any more of the digging around for best tariffs, which will be well-hidden from existing users. I am presently with SP and had to ring them a few times to be switched when the latest online saver came into being. I can`t be doing with this

The bills are a bit curious tho, kittie, when you pay by direct debit, they deduct a discount (because their comps or software is rigged so), but because they don't give discounts they up the rate of, say, gas by a fractions of a penny to cancel this out.So 2.590pence nets down to 2.55pence. Paying quarterly is financially better.
The next best tariff for me is Southern Electric 2008 fix, their partner company.Like you say, with muddled tariffs I couldn't be doing with this, nor should OFGEM.
  • Well....I,ve just left Ebico and signed up to southern,s price fix till Nov 08!

I,m not taking the chance on Ebico not raising their prices especially with them stating that they will be "benchmarking their prices" in the future.

Be quick if you are going to sign up to southern,s price fix though because i had telephoned southern,s customer services earlier and they are going to stop the price fix very very soon (so they say) but i would be very suprised if they did not stop it though!

Did you go thru a cashback site? Wondering if SE pay out for moving from Ebico.

    No... I did,nt go through a cashback site so i can,t help...Sorry.

In your earlier post you say that southern,s price fix would be an option for you and i would say to you is move and cover your costs before prices rise.

The southern price fix is CHEAPER than ebico now before any rises that will happen.

Remember Ebico have changed their policy on prices recently.

Good luck on whatever you choose!

well I got a letter yesterday from SP about something called price fall. I ring sp today and am told that this is a different option to online saver 4. You just can`t win re the ducking and diving. I did have one moment when I have hesitated about changing to ebico but not any more. I want to do without all this hunting for a price ie the lack of clarity

So what If I have got ebico wrong? I can move but I am going to give it enough time

Thank you for all of the information Cardew. Hopefully I will get the lower rate as I have switched for both gas and electricity and of course have to pay by DD.

I have always been very cynical about sites that say you can save hundreds of pounds, so guess I will just have to wait and see. But on the plus side, it will be nice to know exactly what I am going to be charged for most of next year. I really liked Ebico, but as a high user it just wasn't practical to stay.

I liked ebico too but I am also a very high user(with 4 children and a partner who works shifts the heating is on all the time in winter, and hot water also gets used a lot), so I am going to switch to southern electric as their online tariff is cheaper.I don't like paying by DD but savings are always good.I presume quidco has some cashback for switching?

No they haven't-I have just been on the phone with them and the lady advised me to apply online for that tariff as it was the cheapest one they were offering.
