EBICo - as good as it seems?

I don't think you are locked in to SE2008.
By the way what have they set your DDs at? (I assume you put in the figures you gave earlier.)
They haven't got that far along yet, only did the online application yesterday.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Cardew,
This probably sounds really stupid, but what if (and I think pigs are more likely to fly) fuel prices halve during the next eleven months?
Presumably a fixed rate fuel plan is like a fixed rate mortgage where you are bound to pay the price you fixed at regardless of what is happening in the marketplace, which I suppose is fair enough - you can't have it all ways.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Melbury.
Per this thread I posted, S&S will lower it's prices if this happens. So worth checking the T&C's on SE's to see if it's the same.

You can have it both ways.
In the very unlikely event that prices did reduce and SE were not competitive you simply move accounts - you are not locked in at all and there are no penalty clauses.
I think people worry far too much about DDs being too low and a big debit balance building up. If I could get BG to reduce my DDs to £1 a month I would love it!!!! I would simply be an interest free loan.0 -
Cardew,
I need your wisdom yet again. On checking the Southern Electric site again tonight I notice that under their prices there is a Price Fix 2008 and Price Fix 2008 Standard and one is cheaper than the other.
I must admit I got my price info from one of the switching sites.
Do you know what the difference is between these two options? It's very confusing, as the prices do not tally at all with those given on the comparison site.
I know you will have the answer - thank you in advance.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

I assume the cheaper price is when you take dual fuel(or have an electric only property)
The more expensive price is if you only take electricity or only gas.
In effect it is a dual fuel discount.
I stress that is an assumption, but it makes sense.0 -
Melbury,
On reflection the answer above is probably wrong!!!
I think it might be simply that the cheaper price is for on-line applications and accounts, and the more expensive tariff is for those who do not use the internet.0 -
I agree with Cardew. The tariff is dual fuel monthly DD or elec all only so it can't be based on differing fuels & payment options. I would agree that the cheaper rate is going to be internet/paperless as an incentive.
It really doesn't state anything on the main pages so it may be in the T&C's?:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I'm now wondering which one I have applied to switch to.
Hopefully I'll be able to switch to internet/paperless if I'm not already on it.0 -

I think you answered your own question with "it`s very confusing" and this is exactly what the suppliers try to achieve.
CONFUSION.
I`m with Ebico and have been for over a year now and I can`t fault them.
I can`t fault Southern either, who administer Ebico accounts.
Wholesale gas prices are traded nine months in advance (don`t know why, probably back to the old CONFUSION element.)
Southern must therefore know how future prices are likely to run,so this latest gimmick of pricefix 2008 will of course run in their favour.
Stay put with Ebico is my advice,at least you know where you stand.0
