I think i suggested earlier that you ought to use static addresses for your kit

Oops sorry thats a typo. Should say 11.
Basically any device attached wont send or receive data. Then eventually they will drop off the network. If i try to reconnect it will attempt it, then on my phone it will say "authentication error" and try keep trying with the same error.

On my PS4 it will say "failed to obtain IP address" when attempting to connect
Fail to obtain IP address means that the device is not getting an IP address from the local DHCP.
If you know how to do it, try to assign a static IP to a device that is notoriously troublesome, in terms of getting a stable connection to the router. If that solves the problem, then you know that the problem is with the router (which doesn't mean it's 'faulty' per se)

Yea thats my next step i think. Seems all devices fail to connect so will pick one and set it to a static IP. Its the router than handles DHCP isnt it? What could cause it to fail to get an IP address. The router was rebooted only 3 days ago so its not like the IP pool is full. Ive had the router on for a month at a time no issues before

To be honest , and I know it's not very MSE, I would buy a decent router or get you ISP to send a new one that has 5ghz  (they'll probably expect you to agree to a new contract) but then again most ISP routers are fairly cheap and nasty. I have an ASUS vdsl router/modem , and have an ASUS router to provide mesh, I realise you don't have FTTC.

Yea thats my next port of call. Any recommendations or advice?
Ive always had Netgear and like their simple user interface so ideally want to stick with them. I dont need a fancy router with all sorts of features, i only have a handful of devices attached with occasional Netflix streaming. Aslong as its dual band im happy. Whats the going rate for a router with built in modem these days?

Ive been looking and £100 seems the standard

You want WiFi as well (routers don't necessarily come with WiFi).
Since you are not going to do much with it, I would recommend Netgear or Asus. TP-Link are not great, unless they are dirty cheap. With £100 you get a more-than-decent router.

So 1 week later and all seems fine. I tried one last thing before i got a new router

I pulled the power from the router (before i just rebooted via the web console), changed the channel to 11 and recovered the dust filter from my PC tower that was magnetic incase that interfered with it.

Not sure which worked but 1 of them did
