Hello, not sure if the post is still open but I need some help.I recently handed in my notice with a 4 week period, I’m carrion furlough at the moment as well. The company I’ve handed my notice to have told me nothing so would I be paid that four week notice on furlough with them? All the company I am now going to work for is one I’ve had employment with before so they can now pay me furlough as if I work there. How does this work please? Can I be paid my notice by one and then furlough by the other? My old work won’t answer any emails so I have no clue what to do. Thanks !0

Also the new employer, do you mean they've been a constant employer for you/haven't previously issued you with a p45?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Hi, I’m hoping someone can help me. I have been on furlough as my workplace has been closed. Recently I found a new job and so handed in my four weeks notice (as per my contract). I then received a call asking me to resign with immediate effect meaning I will only receive furlough up until yesterday plus any owed holiday. To me this really doesn’t seem right?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!0 -

They are asking you to do so because whilst you are on your notice period they are unable to claim for you, so they would have to cover the cost of your employment in full. Of course what you are due to be paid depends on your contract and furlough agreement, if you are on a zero hours contract for instance then they would not need to pay you.0 -
Hi, again I'm unsure if this is still open, but I'm after some advice.
I handed my notice in on Tuesday this week, and only have to give 4 weeks, but decided to give them 6 weeks (to the end of july) which my company accepted. They also accepted my request to use the weeks holiday during my notice period.
I have been told though, that as i have handed in my notice, I will not be allowed to be furloughed (currently I am on flexi-furlough where I work 7 out of 10 week days, across a 2 week period.) So technically between now and the end of my notice period, I would of only been furloughed for 7days in total, but I have been told that I either....
A) come and work those 7 days as I cant be furloughed for them...
Ortake them as unpaid.
Is this correct in the current scheme of things, or is my employer trying to pull a fast one?
Any help is much appreciated,
TIA

The employer can remove you from furlough when they please, and can either require you to come in or take them unpaid if you choose not to.
Seems fair enough to me, if you don't want to work you can't expect to be paid for it and they're under no obligation to furlough you; and if you're leaving the goodwill has probably evaporated.0 -
The rules changed so that employers cannot furlough you when you have handed in your notice.1

your employer is correct

From 1 December 2020, the employer cannot claim payments from HMRC’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme during the notice period.
