J50 said:It’s very sad isn’t it that non essential businesses continue to operate
It's very sad as it grows clearer a lot of people didn't like their job despite being paid more often then not being paid above and beyond min wage. It has also been good for me to break the cycle of being addicted to online job hunting (you know the stuff alcoholics and gamblers get help with...)0 -

J50, we appear to be of similar opinions. I also am of the opinion that my business is not providing an essential service yet unfortunately i have to work.
The choice will boil down to being simple: as i am not sick i will have to either decide do i want to end up losing my job or do i want to guarantee my health. It's a no win situation. I am obviously gambling with my health and those i live with as i have decided to not lose my job. It frustrates me as we are all now at risk because of me but the alternative is not affording to put food on the table.
What also frustrates me is "stay home save lives". I am rubbing shoulders with 100s of the public through the week as my workplace dips in and out of following guidelines. They say the right things verbally but their actions are the opposite. Basically they want to do the right thing (i think) but then someone dangles a coin in front of their faces and they lose all sense and they choose to take more risk at the expense of our health.
So the government has decided that i cannot go visit a relative of mine as they don't live with me, i cannot stand at one end of the driveway with them at the other, 10 metres between us because it is "unsafe" and i am "risking lives" by doing that, yet the same people have decided it is ok for me to rub shoulders with 100s of the public Monday-Friday.
You'll have to forgive me for feeling like what is the point when i get home from work. That's not to say i am going visiting relatives, i am still doing my bit, but i still now feel like what is the point because it doesn't make sense.1 -

But what you need to bear in mind is the news is only broadcasting figures for those who have died. Some of whom would have died anyway from other causes. Not people who have had it but not needed hospital treatment, nor those who have recovered and gone home. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

My coworkers are feeling pressured in to working in an unsafe manner because the company is putting greater and greater demands on them, trying to push us to work as normal. It'd be like your local supermarket saying well damn we didn't expect 50 people in the queue, that's quite a lot, ok then we may as well let everyone in, on you go and just do your best.1
