I don’t expect all my money back but I do expect them to be reasonable I was hoping to talk to other static caravan owners in the same boat as me and to find out if there site operators had been in touch to tell them there thoughts
Boats now?  That complicates things.  :)

As for the contract been there 18 years and never seen one
That's unfortunate.  A contract does exist, even if you don't have a document, because you've been paying money and they've been providing a service.  They might reasonably argue your fee is for storage.

The advice you've had is good: talk to the site owner.  Other people will all be in different arrangements, different contracts, etc. so their feedback may be of limited use.

I think it’s well documented that site owners rule the roost on static caravan sites so no I have not I wanted to pre arm myself with helpful comments before I go to them I think I am looking in the wrong place
Its unfortunate that you think that and you did not get the answers/advice that you wanted to hear.

Personally thought there was a lot of good advice given. But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

You could ask for further advice on your situation here at this caravan forum, where there is a thread dedicated to static caravan fees/rebates during Civid18:

    https://www.caravantalk.co.uk/community/topic/143419-static-site-fees-in-this-covid19-period/#comments

    The opening poster started with:

"Does any one know if we are entitled to any sort of rebate on our site fee's as our Caravan Park has been closed until further notice due to the Corona virus outbreak.

This means that we are paying for a facility that we cannot use. Doesn't seem right to me."

Not surprisingly he received similar advice as you have been given here.

    Good Luck.  o:)

So you have deemed this thread closed unless you hear what you want to hear.

Here is an idea for you remove your caravan from the site and park it somewhere else.

This is a discussion forum for the benefit of all that read it. It is not a private advice service and opinions are certainly not limited to those you want to hear. Just because you started a particular thread does not give you control over it.
  • Just a couple of ideas what does your insurance policy say about this? (you do have one?), what does the site owners insurance policy say ? he has to display the policy detail somewhere on the site.

As far as I know he (the site owner) is only obliged to have public liability insurance, plus employer's liability insurance if he employs anybody outside his immediate family. Whether he chooses to insure himself against any other risks is surely up to him?

What's your thinking here - why would any insurance be relevant?
