    We actually know people whose surname is Ness.
    they went for Andrew and Peter for their boys.....lovely names but not so good with the surname.

    OP, take heart: my wife told me that it took her parents a month to choose her name before they registered her birth.
  • How about Tom after Captain Tom Moore?  Both surprising and strong whilst being relevant.  Great story to tell too.

    make a shortlist then wait until your son is born.

    I like  traditional names that aren't too unusual.  Although not Scottish they do have some good meaningful names - maybe look there - Stuart Duncan Andrew - not too long but room for manoeuvre

    I hate the idea that teachers are judging kids based on their names. ☹️
    I agree with you on this.

    Sadly, it's not just teachers who may judge individuals based on their names.

    When I was a student midwife I worked with the most awful mentor who judged everyone by their names, amongst other criteria. She really shouldn't have been a midwife, let alone a mentor for student midwives. Although they may not have let her mentor any more student after I made a formal complaint about her!

    Edit:  I just got it, you have to only use the initial, Aness, Pness
