In the first paragraph the OP gave an introduction to the problem they were trying to solve which makes it fair game for members to propose alternative solutions. This is a forum where people share ideas and have open discussion. You seem frustrated that this place is not somewhere where people are strictly confined to answering the question. I doubt such a place would be as popular or useful but you are welcome to try setting it up and prove us wrong.

Talking about stuff that's useful to the question, yes. I've noticed that people seem to not actually answer directly, and give an answer to a question not actually asked. Just an observation. Answering a question about branches shouldn't be responded to with an answer about an app.

OP actually asked about a simple bank account with High Street branches. Not about your opinion about how questions should be answered. Maybe start a new thread about that rather than spamming this one?

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I chose the Halifax as there is a branch in my Devon town and I already have a credit card with them. I will also look into app payment as that will be even easier.
