Simple bank account with High Street branches

My main current account is with Tesco which I want to keep because the Clubcard points pay my mobile phone bill. My problem is that I receive cheques from time to time and the only way I can pay them into my Tesco current account is by posting them. This way it can take up to 2 weeks for the amount to appear in my account.
Can anyone recommend a simple bank account which I could pay the cheques into using an ATM or over the counter and then transfer the funds using internet banking? This would need to not require minimum deposits and no direct debits, etc.
Any help much appreciated.

Which banks have branches on your local high street?
If you just want the account to deposit cheques and transfer them, every bank offers an account that will do this, so choose the closest one to you with the most convenient opening hours.
Many also let you cash cheques at the post office https://www.postoffice.co.uk/everydaybanking - although also check the bank to see if they charge fees for this.2 -
if you have a smartphone you could open a bank account where you can pay cheques in using the phone app and thus never have to go to a branch.2

If you have a smart phone, type "phone app pay in cheque" into Google and it will come up with banks offering this service.1

Halifax has the app pay in cheques, I think HSBC does too but only up to a certain amount.0

Thanks for the suggestions. I already have a Halifax Clarity card so will try and open a current account with them.0

Out of idle curiosity I just tried to locate my nearest Halifax branch. Nowhere on the 'Branch Finder' page can I see any link to click, apart from a list of temporary branch closures due to Covid.
Is it just me?0 -
i heard it through the grape vine that it is only for currant times.5

They've done the same on the Llloyds website (well as far as I can see).badger09 said:Out of idle curiosity I just tried to locate my nearest Halifax branch. Nowhere on the 'Branch Finder' page can I see any link to click, apart from a list of temporary branch closures due to Covid.
