Cruise Line Refunds

Hi,
Looking for some advice.
Last instalment of cruise due in next few days. Trying to weight up whether to continue with payment or to just forget about cruise.
We are now pregnant and will be approx 22 weeks on sailing, not keen to travel due to change in circumstance. Cruise booked with Royal Caribbean and you are being given the option to reschedule for next year, but our issues are that only few Royal caribbean ships allow non potty trained children in pools which leaves us with only one boat/ sailing for next year and destinations are not very desirable. If they cancel your sailing they are offering 125% cruise credit back again to be used by next year.
We are thinking that due to everything going on and the poor selection of cruise alternatives for next year we would rather cancel the cruise and just be refunded due to out change in circumstance. We have travel insurance that was purchased last year at time of booking.
Any advice on where we stand, should we just cut our losses (meaning a loss of £1000 plus flights) or continue with booking and go through insurance?
On brief discussion with travel insurance they suggested that as Royal Caribbean are offering alternatives they would not really get involved.
Thanks

Given that RCCL are offering a credit note for future use then your travel insurance will not entertain any claim you may make. As you indicate, there is a cruise that you could take in the future but you are choosing not to do so.
Your choices are limited to taking the credit note or losing your deposit made to date. You mention flights. Have you purchased flights separately or are they part of a package organised by an independent travel agent.0 -
Which cruise lines allow kids to crap in the pool. I'd like to avoid them0

We booked and paid for a cruise for 16 days in early March with fred Olsen direct online. The ship was the Braemar, you know, the one that got stuck in the Caribbean. The cruise was cancelled by the company and we were offered either a voucher doubling our money for any future cruise or a full refund. We opted for the refund by return email as we thought we might not be able to do another and also we suspected that this covid thing might restrict us well into next year. Still waiting fred !!! If the worst happens will we be able to claim belatedly on our insurance or will we just be an unsecured creditor ?0

But you could try a Chargeback it has no legal force but it's free so no harm in trying.

Stayed at centre parcs for a long weekend once. Loads of kids in the water slides /pools. One of the little B'stards deposited into the slide system and the whole lot was shut down for 2 days while they emptied, cleaned and then refilled it all. Weekend ruined for our kids. I believe there is something that you can put in the water which goes red when somebody pees in it.0

It is a myth. The chemistry of the human body and all its various excretions is too complex for there to be a chemical you could add to the pool that would react solely to urine. Swimming pools are a soup of organic compounds. Adding a bit of urine (which is largely water) to the mix is effectively unnoticeable.0
