Alpharooms refund

Comments

  • my booking with Alpharooms is not until 20july, but Ryannair have just cancelled my flight, so do i wait till they contact me or should i speak to alpharooms now about a refund ??
  • I had email from Jet2 saying my holiday was cancelled and a refund would be issued. Alpha say they have not received this information from Jet2 and advised me to email their customer service department which I have on numerous occasions! They have not responded at all! I understand from Martin Lewis that a chargeback can be used to claim directly from their bank, that will be my next course of action. Good luck! I was due to fly 27/5/20 .

I emailed Alpharooms requesting a refund giving them 14 days to get back to me.  I heard nothing from them so started a chargeback claim with my credit card company. They say they will reply within 15 working days.  The 15 day timeline is now up & haven't heard anything but I'm assuming they are inundated with claims so fingers crossed they will be able to sort things soon.

Help... Flight with Easyjet and hotel with Alpha Rooms for holiday 20th July to PORTUGAL, flight cancelled and refund requested. Now less than 14 days the hotel says is open and the customer phone line for Alpha rooms says to email them, well I have done and had no response, what we can we do next?
As Portugal is not on the new government list and the flight is cancelled do we think Alpha will play ball and give a refund or vouchers or will we loose £1100? Any guidance would be great!

If you booked the flights and hotel separately and the hotel is still open then Alpharooms are under no obligation to offer refund or vouchers, but you may be able to claim on your travel insurance if its terms permit this.

I asked Alpharooms back in May if I could change our hotel booking to next year and they replied with an email saying that I could and they would contact the supplier to let me know any charges. Since then I have emailed them almost every day and all I get is a response asking me to be patient. I am due to travel on 21st July and my flights have now also been cancelled but Alpharooms still have not replied. Could I lose all our money or does their email from May saying that I can change give me any rights?
  • Alpharooms! - I will never, never book with them again. They are an absolute shower. They sent me an email cancelling my holiday on 7.5.20 but still took my final payment of over £900 on 19.5.20. Now they are refusing a refund, wont talk to me on the phone and have declined my chargeback request. I have told them that I will not travel abroad next year due to my husband's ill health. I have requested a refund several times to no avail. They have only offered a voucher or a refund after June 2021. Surely this is against the law?

What do you mean they have "declined your chargeback request" - that's up to your Bank not Alpharooms.
  • I heard nothing from Alpharooms at all. My credit card company have credited the full amount back to my account whilst they continue to investigate the case. They did say however that if at the end of their investigations Alpharooms are found to be right in refusing the refund then the amount will be deducted again. Fingers crossed they don't squirm out of it.
  • I booked for May 7th with AlphaRooms in Portugal, illegal to travel so had to be cancelled. I booked because of the cancel for free offer, before April 23rd. They refused to refund me, said I can have a credit note, the booking was for 12 people, so a credit note is useless.
I tried to do a S75 with my bank as i always use my credit card for such protection. I was told by Santander that the CDS chain was broken because I wanted a refund from alpharooms but the money was paid to the hotel directly, albeit through alpharooms. So they couldn't pursue a S75.
There is no Atol protection either because it was just a hotel. Essentially AlphaRooms lied and are refusing to give the money back and it appears there's nothing that can be done about.
I suspect they're on the verge of going out of business, as they aren't answering their phones or responding on social media.
Not providing the refund is such poor business practice, all they've done is ensure that the 12 people on the booking will never use them again, along with their families and friends.
