Well, £28 spent between the butchers, C0-0p & the bakers this morning - it's somewhat expensive, having OH home all the time! - but I did realise that £6 of yesterday's spend belonged in another "budget" so I've added £22. Not sure I'm going to make it under budget & still have a two-week "cushion" of reasonably fresh stuff... but I'm still going to try.
In other news, I'll be bringing home the first of this year's "crops" next week; the broad beans are podding up & swelling fast now & I nearly brought some home today, but decided to give them a little longer. Bees everywhere, which is lovely; I've let the chard & kale flower to bring the pollinators in and maybe give us some "free" seedlings too!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6 -

Bought some coffee beans from Amazon but used a voucher for part payment so just £2.15 to come from grocery budget. Now have £143.82/£250 left.5

picked up $100US in groceries and sundries this morning so that puts me right at my budget for the month. I will probably spend more on eggs this week for my children--they want the farm fresh ones we get here in the country.4

About flour: my local Aldi had huge sacks of plain flour today. Must have been at least 10kg. Sorry if already posted, I'm a bit behind. Also hand sanitiser in little bottles and a pump (hand wash) size. First time I've seen that in any store since March. And I agree, Aldi feels like a relatively safe place atm, certainly compared to my local A$da which is just awful.
btw I know these are not relevant Qs but I know someone here will know and I can't find an answer (not to #2 anyway):
1: how do you get a green pepper to go red/orange/yellow before it wrinkles beyond being edible?
2: how do I stop getting emails every time someone posts, I do love to know but I can't cope with all the emails!4 -

$78.94AU on a 'small' weekly shop just now, mostly meat! I haven't bought any for a while. I'm hoping we'll be ok for fruit and veg - might need to do a top-up later in the week.
Restrictions are easing here, bit by bit - we even had lunch in a cafe yesterday, but it was very weird and a bit unsettling.March 2020 grocery challenge $921.76/$500AU
