Count me “in” @elsiepac, although I haven’t got a clue (yet) what our budget will be. I’ll post that towards the end of the month. I doubt we’ll have anything left from this month, but who knows?

Thanks for the new thread Elsie. April for me has been a complete write-off, getting more expensive brands and shopping in more expensive stores due to availability. Now supply chains are getting a bit more back to normal I'm hoping to keep it to £200 in May - my month starts on the 23rd.Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...7

I always seem to fail at these but... ynab has given me my average grocery spend as £420 so please put me down for a nice tidy £400 for all groceries, toiletries, cleaning etc and we shall see how we go.Starting payday 24th April. Thanksworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?5

Not done the grocery challenge for a while but finding we're spending far more than usual mainly because we're trying to stock up the freezers properly (now almost full, thankfully). Can I be put down for £250 for the month please. Should be doable with full freezers so will mainly be fruit, veg and milk.

Starting again for May, hate paying with my card though. I find it much easier saving on my GC challenge when paying with cash. £300 for May, 20th April to 19th May. Includes groceries, takeaways, alcohol and any household items. Hoping to save at least £50 out of this this month.6

Thank you for our shiny new thread, elsiepac! I'm still in April until 30th but I already know I'll need to build some of our stocks back up next month, so although £300 was comfortably do-able (she says...) for April I'll aim for £400 in May. Feeding 4 adults (2 of them omnivores & 2 pescatarians) 3 cats, 2 cockatiels and 9 chickens; this can morph up to 9 adults (plus 2 dogs) at weekends, as various Offspring return or visit with or without partners & pets, not to mention members of my wider family, but obviously not until the lockdown's over.
There have been some fairly swingeing price increases over the last month or so, related to the perceived shortages, so even returning to our "normal" budget will be somewhat of a challenge...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6 -
