But I don’t know how applying for 5+ cards will achieve this for you.jones_guitar said:
I want to get a few up to 5k, maybe one or two upto 10k. Therefore, I need to work up the credit limits.jones_guitar said:Becuase, I want to get the credit limits up. I renovate property.Limits are granted on a number of reasons. And if you renovate properties, presumably for a business, then you should be using business credit cards not personal ones?0 -
Becuase you need to transfer from one to another in order to build up limits. No, I always use personal credit card. I'm a sole trading buisness.0

If you have such small current limits, simply applying for more cards will be counterproductive.
You need to review your files and circumstances and establish why you're viewed as so high risk. Then tailor your applications and existing cards according.0 -
No that’s no how it works unfortunately.jones_guitar said:Becuase you need to transfer from one to another in order to build up limits. No, I always use personal credit card. I'm a sole trading buisness.
If you have a balance of, say, £5k and you apply for a Balance Transfer card and request to transfer £5k that doesn’t mean the card you get will come with a £5k limit, it may only come
with a £3k limit. To build up limits you need to demonstrate to lenders you can use your cards sensibly, ideally clearing the balance in full each month, not go over limits, make payments on time etc.2 -

If you have a balance of, say, £5k and you apply for a Balance Transfer card and request to transfer £5k that doesn’t mean the card you get will come with a £5k limit, it may only come
with a £3k limit.I can confirm this from personal experience. Requesting a balance transfer during the application process appears to have no effect on the credit limit offered, and on many occasions I've been offered a lower limit than the BT I requested. Some cards (First Direct and Metro Bank in my experience) ask you what your preferred limit would be, and without being greedy I have been offered the exact limit I requested, then kicked myself for not requesting a higher limit.

I never said it did, I said it helps, as you are managing credit.0

Bouncing debt from one card to another isn’t managing credit.jones_guitar said:I never said it did, I said it helps, as you are managing credit.Quite the opposite actually.0
