Some people on here have around 17, but that's not important.
Have the number that's right for your usage. Don't collect them for their own sake.1 -
Couldn’t agree more! I used to have 5 at one point. Turns out 1 is all I really needed. Depends on your lifestyle and needs.Deleted_User said:Some people on here have around 17, but that's not important.

3, with only one actually being used regularly
Nationwide Select (main card)
Aqua (back up, only used in emergencies)
Nat West (currently unused, but kept as I have held it for a lot of years)

I've had loads over the years (mostly thanks to Stoozing) but I usually close them when they are no longer of any use to me, so typically don't have many open at any one time. At the moment, I've got 8 active. My oldest is my Barclaycard Cashback, which started life as an Egg Money card way back in 2007. This is still my main spending card as it pays 0.5% cashback.0

8 cards, 3 dormant (ish), 2x full pay off's per month, and 3 with 0% BT's.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0

I have two. One for everyday use and the other used occasionaly to keep it active. The "other" is only in case there is a problem with the primary. There have been many instances on MSE of people having problems with their credit card and not having a back up.Why the guitar person wants to know is anybodys guess? Unless they are trying to show off about how many cards they have achieved?Cue a month's time - "I'm maxed out on 7 credit cards and can't afford any repayments, what can I do?"0

I don't agree. For example, what if there is an IT meltdown at your card issuer and your card stops working? It always useful to have the second card as a backup.SteveOk said:...One credit card is enough...
For the record, I have four credit cards (3 x Mastercard and 1 x Visa)
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job

And I agree with @Willing2Learn in that one is definitely not enough. I have 7, OH has 3 I used to stooze a fair bit but that's a waste of time and effort these days but a big advantage of having so many is always having BT/MT offers to take advantage of as and when needed. I notice on here some people trying and failing to get a new card OR needing a transfer and nothing available on their existing card/s, that's a big problem especially in current climate. Credit cards are great when used wisely and nobody should HAVE to pay 'full fat' interest if your smart and know how to play the game.Willing2Learn said:

I have 3.
1x 0% Visa
1x 0% Mastercard
1x Amex (for their app offers)
Didn't plan for it to work out that way, it just did.0
