Just eat won't give refunds

I ordered food from just eat. The food did arrive but it was 4 hours late, we had gone to bed. Just eat are refusing to refund me saying it is the takeaways responsibility. The takeaway are simply flat refusing to even answer the phone to me.
I have reported just eat to trading standards as in my view they failed to provide what I paid them for and I'm hoping by the posting here someone can advise me of what to try next and I also hope people see this and avoid just eat. They are happy to take your money but want no responsibility when things go awry.
If you look on twitter there are endless stories of people who have paid for cold/very late / non existent meals.

Did you attempt to contact the takeaway at any point and say ‘you’ve took too long, cancel our order’?1

Or did you just remain in bed and not answer?A refund (from the Takeaway) should still be possible, though contacting them at the moment could indeed prove problematical.Do appreciate that Takeaways across the country have simply closed for the Duration (perhaps forever). As a result, the few that remain open are utterly swamped. That doesn't mean you have to accept poor or no service, but it does mean that you can't exactly take your custom elsewhere.Sorry, but that's just the way it is at the moment...2

Doesn’t help you but something similar happened to me a few years ago. Since they’ve I’ve stuck to only paying cash on delivery as once they’ve got your money they don’t really care 😀1

Dear me, some of the complaints on here at the moment are beyond belief. Trading Standards for a takeaway delivery...
Just don't use them again. If they're as bad as you reckon they are, they won't last lon .5 -

I ordered a Chinese last night on Just east. Came after the estimated delivery time I assume they were very busy as some places have decided to close. It does give you the option to phone the restaurant/take away. I called them up and he said the driver had just left and he arrived about 5-10 mins later.
Come on you Irons0 -
We phoned a three take ways yesterday at 5.30pm All had a waiting time of four hours for delivery.
One advised us to phone at 4pm if we wanted delivery about 6pm. as once the online system opened at 4.30pm it was mayhem as people order throughout the day and the orders stack up.0 -

As a side point, I won't be boycotting JustEat. I am on the fence about them as a whole. All it truly does is increase the cost of Takeaway food because each premises have to pay to use "Just Eat" and that cost is ultimately passed onto the customer. As to the rest of your post, all of that will doubtless be very useful in the future when this crisis is over. Not so much at the moment I fear.Did you seriously just suggest that a Letter Before Action might be applicable here?0 -

Never get the point of the likes of Just Eat.
Far better to deal direct with the take away and let them have a bit more profit.Life in the slow lane0
