Hi Ken, just like all the other G&E news threads, this is one is for like minded people to share information with other like minded people. It's not here to say that folk should invest in G&E funds, nor for folk like you to argue/debate against the overriding premise of the thread.

Investing, and investments of any type, in any product are for the individual to decide, this thread is, as I said, simply to share between like minded individuals, what we find/have found. Those not interested in G&E investments would naturally be expected to ignore the thread.

If you think people shouldn't invest in G&E, then why not argue that on your "Alternative to Green & Ethical Threads" thread, as this one was never designed nor envisaged for pro/con debate on the issue.

I don’t think that and it isn’t what I am saying. I am simply urging people to think through what they are buying. With RE technology moving on so quickly there is a danger that one might be investing in out of date tech.

We have seen how the price of solar panels has fallen by 80% in the last ten years and with it the cost and price of solar pv. Once existing PPAs expire for older solar farms their value will plummet and there is the danger of them becoming stranded assets as is happening with the fossil fuel Industry.

I just don’t see what the objection is to someone pointing out the financial risks of green investments anymore than someone pointing out (as frequently happens) that domestic batteries might not offer a great return. People still buy batteries because they want the satisfaction of being energy self sufficient and people will still buy green investments because they want to do the right thing.

    One to consider

Based on our forecasts, a long-term increase is expected, the "ORSTED" stock price prognosis for 2025-06-07 is 1729.960 DKK. With a 5-year investment, the revenue is expected to be around +130.91%. Your current $100 investment may be up to $230.91 in 2025.

A fascinating time on the investment front as recovery ebbs and flows. Of course we invest to seek a return, but also to invest in our grandchildrens future and that of the planet. Hence nothing harmful to the environment, accepting that not every investment will see a return.
I appreciate our pittance may have minimal impact, but we're keen to support clean energy projects to replace the traditional, polluting ones we've had to rely on.
Seedrs, the crowdfunding platform have given notice of a fresh investment opportunity for those interested in AI and Energy management in the form of an App.
Their vision is simple; to curate an experience not only from in the app but from a lifestyle and sustainability perspective. Utilising smart technology from the meter level through to smart home tech they are able to offer a centralised immersive product for their customers.
As usual it's not a recommendation, but could be of interest to some.
Coronavirus has demonstrated what a negative impact the burning of fossil fuels has upon the planet but also giving us glimpse of how we might best resist the effects of AGW moving forward.
It is certainly a challenging time, but exciting also and I look forward to witnessing the many changes that lie ahead as man and womankind seek a positive way out of our current dilemma.

At a time when finance houses are resetting their focus for the years ahead Goldman Sachs demonstrate their confidence in the future of Solar in the US.

Loanpal solar loan securitization tests the water, signals a post-Covid market reopening

Goldman Sachs yesterday priced two securitizations for $459 million worth of Loanpal solar loans, marking the reopening of the residential solar loan asset backed security (ABS) market. The Loanpal loans securitized in these transactions were previously purchased by Goldman Sachs and funds managed by CarVal Investors
“Solar loans have proven to be a resilient asset class through these turbulent times and we are pleased to commit more of the firm’s capital to providing a path for U.S. homeowners to reduce their carbon footprint,” Goldman Sachs’ Katrina Niehaus, managing director said.

A placement for raising funds on the Seedrs platform caught my eye as it's in relation to the monitoring of air quality. Something of importance if we are to pursue a green recovery. The funding is 87% complete to date with 25 days left to run. Not a recomendation, just notice that it is taking place.
Airsensa is creating a big data platform with a hyperlocal and real-time monitoring capability to help cities and individuals make informed decisions on the basis of AI and machine learning analysis. We have completed two successful projects in Manchester and Jersey which proved our model.
AirSensa’s backbone is the proprietary STORRM cloud software platform. STORRM delivers scalability, analytics, automation, event management, machine learning and security across the networks. This is technology that is unique to AirSensa.

Just another quick warning for folks with the possible upcoming fall in the DXY. If you are investing in something in the US and cable falls then any small profits would be wiped out or negated and as others have said add in managed fund fees and inflation and over time you will just be losing money.

Moderate gains on FTSE saw our ISA creep back up over 100% to finish on 100.2%. :)
On the other hand Energy Storage Fund dropped back to 106%. :( Don't know if this may have had anything to do with Tesla having their application to supply energy to the Grid approved or indeed their announcement of revelations to be revealed on Battery Day.
With the ever growing contribution of Renewables to the Grid, finance houses have been showing increased interest in Storage these days as their presence makes for an ideal partner to help offset the greater fluctuations inherent with weather dependent generation.

One form of renewable energy not weather dependent is that of anearobic digestion, AD, for which Abundance are offering the opportunity of investing in.
Again not a recommendation and especially so as I've little understanding of it. As with any form of renewable energy generation I do intend delving further into the operation.
The money raised will be in the form of a secured loan and they are offering a 7.1% return over a 16 year period.
